We have a new cruncher at AQUA WELCOME beerkat2 !!!!! Nah, that's the name of my quad. I was wondering a while ago who is beerkat2... found out it was John loool **** I hope Aqua settles down on its credits. If everything is equal, I'd be very happy with a cooler running GPU. ![]() ![]() |

Just posted @ AQUA
----------------------------------------"OK I sure want to keep AQUA's GPU credit within the range of other similar projects so I may adjust things a bit." -Karman This is a good thing or otherwise there will be a continuing escallation in the credits race. Was good while it lasted though. I have about 20 running or ready to start. ![]() ![]() |

So this is the reason why the GPUs run cooler! ![]() Yes, as I understand it it works like this. Until the wu reached 3% complete, it uses CPU to build the Monte Carlo model it is going to run. During that time you cannot suspend it/reboot/stop BOINC as it does not checkpoint. Doing so will cause it to start over. After it passes 3% it uses a combination of CPU and GPU to run the model. During that time normal checkpointing occurs. It uses much less GPU but a little more CPU than GPUGrid. ![]() |

Looks like Aqua trimmed it back a bit, but still a pretty good result. 12.3 hours = 29,560 credits. That's still 4X [edit - oops 6X] more than GPUGrid.
