Hey Blizzie, as regards your laptop, that's a tough situation. The problem with laptops is obviously heat. Even Steve's Alienware laptop overheated quickly. Once it gets toasty, it declocks itself. The same goes for graphics. So basically, don't expect any kind of quality graphics in a laptop. If I were you, I'd try to bring a desktop and buy a cheap laptop. I decided to get an Asus M50Vm-A1 . |

With that working, you can then go back and get encryption working. The problem with wireless routers is that you tend to set them up once and the forget about them. Usually, there's some instructions that talk about setting the router settings thru your machine's browser. That usually has the default userid and password. As for encryption, you have to set the keys on the router - that tells it what to expect/accept - and then set the same on your machine's wireless connection - so it knows what to send to the router. |

And you might want to check your manual for the default login.. If you set your own router password and you forgot it.. Looks like you'll need to reset the router and reconfigure. |

Really? I am so out of the loop. I guess there were some 9 series options when I bought my pc, but they were very expensive compared to my 8800GT. A gig of video memory must be nice.
Also, sometimes, the password for wireless routers is set up as user = admin pass = (literally, no password) |

Also, sometimes, the password for wireless routers is set up as user = admin pass = (literally, no password) 1 GB of video mem is useless. No game can use up that much. 8800GT are $120 after Mail in Rebate now. Still the best bang for the buck. |

Dr. Mikeone minute i'm connected, the next minute i'm not.. Dr. Mike -- What kind of router are you using? If it is a Linksys, the address is "http://192.168.1.1" - then, when asked for userid and password, there is no userid, only the password "admin" in lower case. If not Linksys, let us know the make and model number so we can check out its manual online and work with you on it. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jul 23, 2008 2:50:59 AM] |
