Hm. My thing didn't work either? If you can access the box with user and pass then your router is connected to the computer correctly. You just can't get into the settings. Can you reset the router and start fresh? Dr Mike -- To reset the router to factory settings, ![]() At least that will get you to a known starting point. Then, if you do not have the disk that came with it, uou can download the setup wizard. Just enter the version number (only 1.0 is out) and you will be taken to the page where you can download for Windows Vista. I think that ought to be the safest way to go. |

Mike, in your thread in the BOINC Agent forum, Sekerob said
----------------------------------------On Vista, make sure to configure Private Network, else you will only see the LAN but not the internet. so maybe your router is set up right but Vista is the problem? Maybe a follow up in that thread will get you some more ideas. |

Dr Mike -- Another resource that might be of help are the Linksys Wireless Router Forums. Also, I did some reading in the WRT160N User Guide, and it says that you should have a working router after running the Setup Wizard, so that is the place to start. I would also recommend starting out without encryption. On my older router, I have never found a need to implement it because the MAC address filtering effectively keeps others out of my network.

Dave,
----------------------------------------I will research the problem more when I get home today. It's frustrating, yes... but I want to get it working so I can have my mother use a laptop for her stuff. Thanks for the points congrats.. :) I know there's a reason I joined! If I can get the one laptop from overheating (the fan opens up on the bottom of the unit) and continuing to work, then i'll run units on it. Have to get the router to work for it too though. Mike.. ![]() |

Hey, I noticed I moved up to #54 recently. I sure hope we can get people back to crunching..
---------------------------------------- I wish I would have started earlier. Sometimes we lose focus.. Dr. Mike.. P.S. At one point I was calculating using physics formulas how far I could throw my router. I was estimating between 160 to 180 feet. :) ![]() |
