okay, now i'm officially lost... go to wireless router settings? how? and I typed in the address like you said in the browser.. admin/admin didn't work.. don't know what else to do.. Dr. Mikeone minute i'm connected, the next minute i'm not.. Dr. Mike -- What kind of router are you using? If it is a Linksys, the address is "http://192.168.1.1" - then, when asked for userid and password, there is no userid, only the password "admin" in lower case. If not Linksys, let us know the make and model number so we can check out its manual online and work with you on it. It is a Linksys... N-Ultra range plus.. using the above didn't work. Continued to ask me for login and password. ![]() |

----------------------------------------I would make okay money for 3 years.. then after the "job" I would be trained to be the "boss".. And the work isn't easy either.. lol... Dr. Mike.. P.S. I wonder what would happen if I took a blowtorch to my wireless router? Could I get a refund then? ![]() |

Cisco is usally rather good with customer support. http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_...er&lid=7788119816B297 ![]() |

"To access the Web-based Utility of the Router, launch Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator, and enter the Router’s default IP address, 192.168.1.1, in the Address field. Press the Enter key. A screen will appear asking you for your User name and Password. Leave the User Name field blank. Enter admin in the Password field. Then click the OK button." ^ If that doesn't work.. You'll have to hit the reset on your router. Get a pin and hold it down until lights flash. Is it a new router? If you have AIM/MSN I can try and help. |

Dr. Mike, I went to http://www.linksys.com and put in n-ultra range in the search field. Got this: http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_...=JavaScript-1175239735397
----------------------------------------Down under Top Solutions, saw "Setting-Up the Wireless Settings on a Linksys Router" and "Setting-Up a Linksys Router with DSL Internet Service" that may well help. Also, it looks like one of the first steps for both is setting up your wireless settings on the router itself thru your browser. It also shows that the username is blank and the password is admin ("A new window will prompt for a User name and Password. Leave the User name field blank then enter your router’s password ("admin" is the default password), then click OK."). If that doesn't work, they have a link to another doc on resetting the router. Apparently, there's a setup CD that you use to install that probably takes you through all this. |

Stopped for several minutes after I still had a connection to them. There is no link or answer for Windows Vista. Guys, i'm that computer stupid. I have NO idea what to do now. ![]() |

Hmm, I've been avoiding Vista like the plague but doesn't it bug the daylights out of you about making sure you're okay with it accessing or running something? Could this be a problem with Vista permission settings and not the router setup? I mean, if your router is not set up right, it won't work period. If it works at all, then it would seem that the setup is okay but something is rejecting it at some point - ie, Vista.

My thing didn't work either? If you can access the box with user and pass then your router is connected to the computer correctly. You just can't get into the settings. Can you reset the router and start fresh? |
