----------------------------------------There were no challenges ending on November 27; at least none that was really effective. The most recent ends were 4 on November 23 and 3 on November 28. retsof, I found them...it was the 3 on Nov 28. It was a few days since I had seen it. The orange picklist in the team challenge history is buried in the orange color bar, and I had to look close to find it. What part of "contrasting title" doesn't WCG understand? I found it a month ago, but forgot about past challenges and pending challenges.There were no challenges ending on November 27; at least none that was really effective. The most recent ends were 4 on November 23 and 3 on November 28. If you can see them in the last page of the "Past Challenges" you are not missing anything. Cheers. Jean. Here is my programming challenge to the Past Team Challenges. I am not sure what is going on with the ranks for Vulture Central III, compared to my manual count. It's not points rank for everything. It's more random than that. Some actual ranks may be the same as reported ranks only because there is not enough data for a divergence.

Is there any way for SETI.USA to join the xmas race if our founder is not around to join us? I e-mailed support about changing the captain to another teammate, which they kindly did, but it was just afew hours after the start of the christmas race, so we cannot enter still. Is there any way we can join now? |

Is there any way for SETI.USA to join the xmas race if our founder is not around to join us? I e-mailed support about changing the captain to another teammate, which they kindly did, but it was just afew hours after the start of the christmas race, so we cannot enter still. Is there any way we can join now? There is no reason a team couldn't join after the start, IMO.  |

I think nelsoc wrote you still can (how else to find out for sure but trying).
----------------------------------------That should work of course only in "Open" races. Closed is Closed. The points count from the day of registration. Since the stats are build from the end-of-day membership of team and registration of challenge, even joining in at 23:59:59 UTC should still insert the points/runtime/results/ earned during the full day. What was removed was the retro-activeness. It's not right to join a race on day 2 or later and get all the credits from day 1. Have fun and watch for that rumble. Added: See http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/printpost?post=126216 post, where it in fact said that it was changed. No Joining after commencement date!

I still think that monthly boundaries have something to do with setting up a challenge.
----------------------------------------01/01/2008 to 05/31/2008 is illegal. 12/31/2007 to 05/31/2008 is a legal challenge today. Several challenges will get out there by playing with the data, but somebody needs to.

I have found the maximum number of days. (not many can join, so I tried another set with a later start date.)
----------------------------------------12/02/2007 to 05/31/2008 is an illegal challenge and too far in the future. 12/02/2007 to 05/30/2008 is a legal challenge. 12/15/2007 to 06/13/2008 is an illegal challenge and too far in the future. 12/15/2007 to 06/12/2008 is a legal challenge. 2008 is a leap year, so that chews up another day. June 12th is the latest that something starting on December 15 could end. The limit looks like about 6 months worth of days.

There is no reason a team couldn't join after the start, IMO. Fairness for all is one reason that I can think of. There will be other challenges. I set up some more.Your team members would gripe if the other teams had already been sending work to the same challenge and you just started. I am having trouble understanding your point. If Team A has been in the challenge from the beginning, and Team B joins late, it is to only Team B's detriment. If Team B wants to join with the obvious handicap of having fewer days, they should be able to do so, IMO. |
