retsof, a couple of your challenges I entered my team in : up to you...don't you WANT to be ahead???Little Notice Points Challenge, and Little Notice Time Challenge I don't think my team should stay in. We are like toooo far ahead, and I was wondering if you would mind if I ask nelsoc to take us out? Thanks :) Diana I was testing the limits of the challenge with that one ... see how many days it would let me have.

I am enjoying all the challenges :) It is nice to have a variety and for different lengths of time. I just think that the gap is to big in those particular challenges for me to stay comfortable. I look forward to seeing the battle between the rest of you and letting one of the remaining teams rightfully be in first.
----------------------------------------Now, the Little Notice Results Challenge is fine because we have a more close race. Thank you :) Diana edit: sent support an email request. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Diana G. at Dec 4, 2007 3:31:29 AM] |

I just think that the gap is to big in those particular challenges for me to stay comfortable. The staff has been too busy rolling out new projects to deal with minor issues like a handicapping system for challenges.

I can join every race here, but shouldnt. You cant really tell until the race starts if you should or shouldnt be in it. I pulled out of one race myself. I didnt want to spoil their fun, as the gap was way too wide.
----------------------------------------To answer this problem, I am constructing a group of races that "invite" teams of nearly the same strength. To enter, just join a "qualifier" race. Right now, that is any past race or one that ends before dec31. The races called "WCG SPORTS" are 5 day heats to help build the profile that will help match teams. So if you want to get in on that fun, get in a race. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I joined those recent ones, not being sure what they were for. The minimum time for a heat would be a warm, a 2 day race.

how do the "points" "Run Time" and "Results Returned" differ? I think I know, but I just want to make sure.

Results are the number of work units processed by the team. The run time is a total of all CPU hours that your team makes. Points are, simply put, a representation of the two stats combined and the degree of participation your resources have to offer.
----------------------------------------The points stat is actually a much better for racing here. The relative difference between projects is better than results for cross project racing. For results races to work, all involved would have to shift one project, right now that is DDDT. This can be good, but it can cause a dog pile effect that would bring a quick end to results biased raced. Runtime races are really kind of fun time races. The bias here is in membership. If you are a large team, you will tend to do better. In this case, humanity is the bias. But don’t write this style off too quickly. As many say only results count, in these races stress that you do count. What you see when some races are started, is there are all three race types. These are "all-round" competitions that allow exposition better the true team potential across the board, while providing a tool to prevent un-due biasing. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

if challenge is set to start date 01/01/2008:
----------------------------------------The Start Date for your challenge needs to be after today. (Please use the MM/DD/YYYY format for the Start Date) So far, no challenges may start in 2008. It's coming up soon, you know.
