Re: Team Challenge problem....

So far, no challenges may start in 2008. It's coming up soon, you know.

It's wrong retsof. See your December 7-8 Minicrunch Results

Too bad that it was probably not for this one that you wanted it... smile

Cheers. Jean.
I wondered where that went. laughing A year from now, will anyone remember what it was for???

That little mistake points out another fluke. If you want a challenge starting and ending in 2008, you may just have to wait. I could set up a challenge for December 7-8, 2008, but not for JANUARY 7-8, 2008. I could also not set up anything starting in January, February, March, April, May, Jun, July, August, September, October or November. The first part of December through December 6, 2008 is also illegal.
Tomorrow, it will probably be illegal to start challenges on December 7, 2008.

Two week long term corporate planning only takes the month and year into account. I still suspect that once realtime reaches January 1, 2008, we will be able to set up 2008 challenges for the remainder of January through June or so.

Re: Team Challenge problem....

The one thing about this problem, is that it may only happen once. By the time it rolls around again, we could be looking at a diff web site design here.

biggrin Re: Team Challenge problem....

Well, if they do plan to change the site, then if wouldn’t make sense to fix a problem that would only happen once. The time would be better used on the new design process and limp through it this one time. BUT GREAT! That it is being looked to.

Granted I may not have feet, I think you can see how carefully I balance over my ankles. laughing

It would probably recur every year, since the year had not entered into the calculation of beginning and ending dates.

Re: Team Challenge problem....

The 2008 year boundary problem has been fixed.

I entered three minicrunches for Jan 1-2 and they went in successfully.

Enter whatever challenge dates you want and see what happens.
No new capability is there...just fixed dates.

biggrin Re: Team Challenge problem....

GREAT! I can invite those who may be around only for the christmas race and split. The question now is "can I start a closed challenge and then add teams up until the day the races start?" I could do a test to see, but if someone has tested this path, say so please. I dont want to generate an invalid race.

The other question I'm trying to nail down is how to best generate a "league team". This is a team that only launches races for league play. I could do this by using my team and request nelsoc remove me from the races that are not of my class, but I am trying to not make this a "nelsoc do list". What I am really asking is if I generate an alias name and team to prevent this, will anyone mind?

Re: Team Challenge problem....

Courine, I think the alias team idea is better than having nelsoc involved.

Also, I don't think one could keep inviting teams to a challenge once it's posted. All the legwork needs to be done beforehand.

The alias team or pace car team would work for that. If you go there as captain, start some challenges, and go back to your original team before 2400 UTC the same day, points would not go to the fake team. Nelsoc would not have to mess with anything. You would not need an alias member name either, just an alias team.

I suppose it would also work with both an alias member and team, to avoid all of that back and forthness.

Thank nelsoc for fixing the year problem.

Did you wonder what my team Roman Numerals were for? Probably not. I've already got a league, but the challenge is how to challenge it. Each team is in a different BOINC project:

If you can't crunch here, we have vultures for most occasions. Crunch somewhere.
