Re: The Formula One Thread

Looks as if Silverstone may yet get the British Grand Prix as Donnington has now been given a final deadline by Bernie.

I think Bernie is trying to see who will give him the most money and he really doesn't care which it will be. As long as Donnington keeps saying they can come up with the money they will keep getting extensions, IMO. Bernie could care less that the drivers own Silverstone, they are just a means to an end for him.

Re: The Formula One Thread

I agree but it's still in his interest to have a track that is ready for the scheduled date and, currently, they're short of funding to do the job at Donnington.

Good sensible time for this week's race as far as the UK is concerned. I can watch it comfortably before dinner.

But Bernie has already helped another track that was also short of funding. To continue as he is makes him seem less than a businessman and more of a
troll. 'Do as I say or I will crush you' seems to be his attitude towards this track. Why doesn't F1 just put its own money into all tracks that need it. This would help set a standard and spread some of that money around to the places that have tracks. Creating a positive cash flow in a time of recession World Wide.

Good sensible time for this week's race as far as the UK is concerned. I can watch it comfortably before dinner.

And as for a "good sensible time" here in the US it is at lunch time, finally a day time race that isn't either pre-breakfast or in the middle of the night! Where are the other this side of the World races? Does Bernie really think everyone is a Nascar nut over here? Nascar fills a void that other types of racing do not. Road Atlanta, Laguna Seca and other tracks are being used most weekends, as are a lot of tracks around the Country and not by Nascar! Nascar is at one track per weekend, what about all the other racing going on around the Country? F1 tested a few years back at Laguna Seca, I would love to see the F1 cars going thru the cork-screw every lap! Here is a link to the Road Atlanta Wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Road_Atlanta Is Bernie really trying to tell us that F1 can't race there?! Or are there other 'issues' involved?

Re: The Formula One Thread

It didn't mention anything about Massa doing the checkered flag work this weekend. I was wondering if that was ALL checkered flags, ie practice, or just the actual race?
