Re: The Formula One Thread

Yes, it would be an odd situation when the home of so much of Formula 1 is based in the UK. If it's just a case of following the money then eventually all racing will be in the Middle East or Asia.

And fewer and fewer people will be watching and unless the money stays high for the pay, new drivers will not be plentiful either. People get interested as kids watching and going to races, then as their interest gets peaked they find they may have some talent, get a chance and start participating in the sport. If the sport is only on tv that will not happen as much for anyone outside where the actual races are. Nascar in the US is popular because they have made it fan friendly. When F1 was in the US they had a day when the fans could go into the garages and look at the cars up close and personal, well as close as they could. This peaked interest in both the sport and the fans. Only watching on tv will fail on all accounts! Soccer is soooo huge they have a stadium that is the largest in the World and it is still sold out every game!! http://www.sports-venue.info/FIFA/List_Soccer_Stadiums.html EVERY little kid grows up playing soccer! F1 needs to find that same interest and to do that, I think, the answer is to keep the races near the existing fans. Maybe F1 could even have a longer season if that is what it takes. With more Teams maybe EVERY Team doesn't go to EVERY race? Maybe with 3 cars per Team you only take 2 cars per race and the 3rd car goes to the next race? Highlight drivers skills at a race they are really good at, not racing the guy who is not as good at whatever...rain, slow speed, sharp corners etc. The driver's championship still to be determined like it is today, by points.

Re: The Formula One Thread

It'll be interesting to see what sort of crowd they will have this weekend. The cameras tried to hide the empty spaces when they were in Turkey.+

Re: The Formula One Thread

**
There only 3 maybe 4 regular contributors to this thread we all have a Complete interest in FI as I have said before
you cannot draw a line on what is F1 related
Mikeys reference was an analogy and very relevant
my thoughts are always random .
I do not abuse any contributor nor wish to upset anyone least of all your good self the object of this thread as I see it is to enjoy exchange of ideas "related " to our beloved sport .
** I do not wish to stop posting here because I love F1. I do believe that I do have some thing to contribute .Everyone in here might think that what I write is rubbish but I feel its up to me what I write
I Only post 15/20 items a week maybe only about our boring English weather or some other silly English fad , ** I know you have achieved the greater accolade of being a administrator I supported your being given this position
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
At this moment I have no comment about the F1 at the weekend
as all I have seen is press tittle tattle ....
There is some interest on the British GP Venue next year
if in deed we get one once again its down to €£$ and politicking

Thanks but I am now old enough to have my kids pas the soccer stage in their lives and I am now an F1 fan. I was just comparing the different sports and how F1 needs to find its fan base like some of the other sports in this World have. Always moving to new venues and discarding the old ones I think will be detrimental in the long run. No long term fans means no money to upgrade the tracks, no money for the tracks means no money to pay Bernie and no money means no high salaries for the drivers, which of course leads to less young people coming into the sport.

Now how about this new circuit....anyone else think it might be noisy in that hotel they drive thru? I am not too sure I would want to be on one of the lower floors during the race. And I read where there is some run-off area UNDER one of he grandstands! That won't be a bit rumbly will it?!

Re: The Formula One Thread

Well the expected front runners were certainly battling it out in the Free Practice so it could be a good race with not much between McLaren, Brawn and Red Bull.

AND, a good viewing time on Sunday for those in the UK.
