Re: The Formula One Thread

@Mikey
Rain on the track during a F1 race rarely a race stopper,For practise its a different matter, Visibility is the issue. However much rain tyres clear the track surface to provide grip that cleared water ends up as a Fog in the air.Not sure But don't think Nascar even Runs in the rain? Admitted Different race tracks Higher speeds Do they even have wet tyres?
The quallie today was a mess some odd choices by Brawn Late going out in second session only just squeezed in a timed lap and a chance of that being disallowed due to the Yellows during one section.
Should be a interesting Race having had Three red flags in the Qualifying.
Feel sorry for Mark Webber bending his car in last part of morning Practise Bent to such an extent that it needs a rebuild and he will have to start from Pit lane or back of grid ?
We used to Have a spare T car the driver could jump in with some personalisation mods This is not now allowed It cant be a question of cost as seeing Red Bull have a spare chassis and bits to rebuild a complete car they might as well take the car already made up ????

No Nascar does not run in the rain and in fact run on nothing but slicks. I had not thought of the spray, I was thinking mostly of the water on the track. I was sort of thinking in regards to he lack of testing this year and how it would be nice to get the cars of the track for the fans! I would not pay money to go watch practice and then have to sit in the stands and watch the rain come down. I live in the US so it is not really an option right now anyway, but when/if F1 comes back here, Speed TV is the way to go until they fix this. Paying hundreds of dollars to get wet and watch it rain for the 'experience' is not my idea of fun! My wife and I thought about going to Indianapolis when the F1 race was there but with all the problems and then the chance of paying all that money and getting rained out, staying home and watching tv was better. And then the race with the tire debacle was just horrible!!!

Re: The Formula One Thread

Back @ Mikey again.

Thanks for the how its at state side info.Only ever watched the American races on the Box so not up to date on rules some things that strike me as good idea.minimum crew round the tyre change stop its pathetic having the two or three guys at each wheel a Front & rear jack men, Lollipop man, fuel men
Guy with start motor whizzer. and someone polishing vizors and clearing radiator rubbish twisting Knobs on front wing, putting shopping in Trunk/Boot and so on
At least next year we will remove the fuel rig from the scene .
on today's Qualifying the grid has been shaken up

As I predicted earlier this morning (I Was Up at 0430 to see start of Live TV show ) Jenson & Rubino have been pushed down another 5 slots sitting at 12th and 10th,Fernando, Adrian Sutil and Sebastian Buemi, were also punished for not slowing for yellow flags

Sebastien Buemi who caused the yellow flags to come out. was also dropped five places for driving back to the pits with his wreaked bent motor instead of parking it. As it was in the last minutes of the session he wasn't about to come out again and spoilt the above peoples race.
although having said that they were the ones that didn't observe the Yellows.

Re: The Formula One Thread

You're mad Den. I don't intend to get out of my bed in the dark to see the race tomorrow but I'll probably record it and watch after breakfast.

Yes I know I'm slightly Loco laughing laughing laughing
hence my by line/signature.
As its so early morning that means I cant listen to the wireless till I've seen the race. The dashed news casters cant resist spoiling things by blabbing out whos won & I cant watch the race if know the result sad
and I have to have the full fix particularity at this stage of year as its turning out quite changeable not at all cut and dried.

anyway your keeping me from my bed what with having to rise early....

If it comes to the worst I could have a lie in then spend the morning with industrial ear defenders on and watch the transmission at 1400hrs .
Just finish watching Jack frost then its up the wooden hill
Nite All ................

Ten To Two with You JP
ten to Six am with me Topping up my coffee cup
The grid got shook up over night not as it seemed at first look I knew about the penalty's its just how they were applied.
I did think that the offence Jenson and others committed happened in Quallie 2 and it should have dropped him out of the third session. Just my thoughts and with out the exact details of where they were in that session
I guess I will have to leave it to the FIA F1 Motor sport officials and hope they get it right

Re: The Formula One Thread

Well done Sebastian
Well within his grasp to lift the championship .I thought that Brawn would take the manufactures title today only a point needed tho they should make it next Race in Brazil .
Jenson and Rubino must do much better in grid position and get the starts right ..
Thought the race abit of a procession .Bear in Mind the track is quite Narrow having been Built for motorcycle racing, so hard to overtake.
The difference when watching say Moto GP or top class touring cars
very much closer racing and dare I say it "Overtaking"

Built in 1940 in a natural basin in the suburbs of São Paulo, Brazil (about 16 km south of the city center), the Interlagos circuit had a unique pattern: the pattern seemed as tangled on itself, around two lakes, where his name. For years it housed races but not too much standing in 1972, both the rise dell'Asso Brazilian and paulista, Emerson Fittipaldi in the F1 world title, he organized the Interlagos GP Brazil and got to the validity of the maximum for league ' edition of 1973. For some years (in 1978 and 1981 to 1989) changed the race headquarters, moving to Rio de Janeiro, an area of influence of a new star of motor Brazilian Nelson Piquet. Then, in 1990, Interlagos riebbe definitively GP: and in this connection it must be said that the 'champion' Ayrton Senna was St. Paul. The length of the original route was 7960 m, which in 1979 became 7874. From 1990 onwards the track - dedicated to the memory of Carlos Pace, Brazilian pilot died in a plane crash here that he won his only F1 GP - she restructured and significantly shortened, 4325 m, finally reduced to 4309.

Lap length 4309 m
71 Total Laps
Stroke Length 305909 Km
