It's been a tough sell to try and get more members, so to prove my point to a few friends, I've put my money where my mouth is and added another dedicated crunching machine. The new machine is a Quad-Core (Intel Q6600) overclocked and running stable at 3.005Ghz with 2GB of RAM @ 1066Mhz. It crunches 4FA@H WUs every 2hrs and 50 minuites. (+/- 10mins or so).
Being stubborn I don't plan on giving up getting more members, but until then I'll try to contribute as much as I can. Happy Crunching! |

I use Ebay to buy and sell quite a bit. On that as a user you can have a "me" page where you can tell everyone about yourself, or as I do, put a nice advertisement for WCG. It's shown next to your user ID every time you bid or when you sell.
I'm always intrigued by and read other people's Ebay "me" pages, and that's what gave me the idea. If you buy and sell a fair bit, or just here and there, why not create a "me" page to advertise WCG. If you already have a "me" page, add a bit about WCG. If you attract one new cruncher then it has been more than worth five minutes' work. If you attract more then we're laughing.... ![]() |

Hi Everybody,
I'm the new member of the FA@H team at The Scripps Research Institute. I'll be submitting and analyzing most of the experiments performed on this part of the grid (starting with number 11, using the convention on http://fightaidsathome.scripps.edu/ ) I was talking about this very issue with Lindy this afternoon. Synchronicities abound. I'm going to try to create some nice molecular artwork about the research performed here, and I'll see if it can be put on some t-shirts and whatnot to increase the amount of exposure of this project. I'll keep you all informed. |

I believe that, in the end, it comes to us to try and spread the word with our friends...
This week I managed to get 4 extra volunteers to the cause... |

How about getting someone at the WCG to work with governments to get members a tax break for the time donated?

I'm new to WCG but decided when I joined to crunch FightAids models
basically because 2 very good friends of mine are doing just that at the moment. Plus I'm not that parochial and the devestation caused by aids worldwide is horrific and deserves our concern and attention. A tax break would be nice ( just a contribution to the electricity bill would be welcomed...). I crunch with my great and friendly team "The Greenies". We started in the BBC CCE experiment and have now moved into CPDN and are currently crunching in many DC projects as a team. When I look at my account page in CPDn ( or any of the other projects) it shows me which projects I am participating in and I can "click" on the project and go to it's site. Except for WCG which seems to have no link. Maybe that should be addressed as anyone who could be interested can't just click and have a look. Also why do we not have avatars here..that also makes it a bit more friendly?? Chrissy ![]() |
