Seems such a waste of processing looking for aliens, when all those people could be doing something a bit more worthwhile closer to home... ![]() Agreed |

One small gripe I have with WCG is the credit system - namely that it rewards very low credit for Linux machines compared to Windows.
----------------------------------------I know, you shouldn't crunch for the credits but for the project, though for many people credits ARE important; for those crunching under BOINC in general they might not choose a project that gives lower credits, for fear of loosing the position in the stats. Make the credit system more fair, and you would at least gain some more Linux crunchers. ![]() ![]() |

Hello!
I'm from Russia. I think that would be a good idea to 1. translate installation instructions into different languages 2. make a multi language ads banner for sites 3. register new international domains: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.ru for Russia for example It is the Real Power because we are all together. I want All people to be Happy and Healthy! It's a good idea! my e-mail : vad808@rambler.ru Respect! Vadim |

Hello,
----------------------------------------I've been running FAAH units almost all the time and I wonder why these units have to be so slow compared to HDF or FCG units. Anyway, I don't have any problem with BOINC 5.8.0 and those of you who are new to WCG should try BOINC, :-). ![]() |

Hi cio_redulla,
----------------------------------------There is a lot more computational effort in the FA@H i.e. lots more Flops to process compared to HDC or GC. Hit the 'projects' link below to see a relative representation of how heavy the FA@H project is. ciao

For me there are two inhibitors to further use WCG.
1) The screen saver of SETI at Home is much nicer than the crappy FAAH. I can not stand to see the FAAH one anymore. Now with the introduction of other projects, I think WCG is more interessting as I get on my PC now different screen savers but they are all apart from Fight against Cancer very boaring and bring me nearly to the point to change to BOINC and SETI 2) WCG was not supported under Linux. My 4 Servers are therefore running BOINC and with that SETI and other projects as well which reduces the FAAH computing time. Whatever I run and like on my Laptop.... I will also run on the servers.. so.. make the screen savers more interessting to look at. |

I really don't care how the WCG's screensavers look like because I just switch my monitor off when I'm not using my computer, saves a lot of electricity, :-).

Yes,
It's best to turn screen-savers off so all that CPU power gets used for crunching. David. |
