My big question is why do people quit ????? I suspended WCG for some months to concentrate on some other distributed computing projects - during this time I only sent in very few results from my laptop which kept crunching here. It was mainly because I am very interested in distributed computing and always try out new projects (or support my team if it needs help on other projects). I guess, this could be the reason for some others who are inactive, too. Now I am back because of a) the new projects b) the feedback from the wcg techs and community advisers. The most important thing for me to crunch on a dc-project (apart from it being scientific usefull) is to be kept informed about the status/progress of a project. There is nothing that sad than to crunch for months and then see the project disappearing or going inactive. I appreciate very much the status reports that are updated here (more or less ) regularly.Maybe it is possible to automatically show the progress of the projects on the stats page (just like einstein here)? Guess, this could be really motivating for crunchers. ![]() |

Why not using your sig in another Forum to spread the grid?
On http://www.wcgwiki.org you can find some banners, or create your own (and submit it to wcgwiki(?)). |

Hi Nemrod, Dexter and al friends of WCG.
I am doing the best of myself to spread WCG here in Brasil. According the statistical data, Brazil have + or - 6000 computers working. I put, since december 2006, forty computers at work. It is a hard work, because people think this is not real, or not serius or, in worst case, this is a virus program. We have a huge potential here, Brasil has more than 20 milions of computers. Can you imagine if the wcg could range about this number of devices? I keep on work, silent work. Keep you too friend. cheers P4 ![]() |

----------------------------------------Just curious, is that picture the one of the technicians working on ENIAC, the brainchild of Dr. John Mauchly and J.Presper Eeckert, probably about 1945 or 1946 ? Cheers Sgt.Joe Minnesota Crunchers

Hi Sgt Joe!
Yes, this is ENIAC!!! The grandfather of our computers! Nowadays, who has a Pentium 4 or equivalent cpu.... has a SUPERCOMPUTER or MAINFRAME from 80´s or 90´s! cheers |

I know that it's not OK trying to get people from other Projecst but I think the Drug Design Optimisatino Lab (D2OL) is an inactive Project. I sent some E-Mails to the Project-owners, but never received an answer, and the 'News' on their Site are from 2005.
I think we can try to get some from their members. |

Try to get members from that project! ![]() |

I had the Grid thing on my computer but uninstalled last September because it wasn't doing anything. Yesterday I received an email asking whats up. I reinstalled the Grid thing but it has the Proetome thing trying to run but it is stuck at 0%. I changed my preferences to Aids but nothing is happening. I sent 2 emails to Grid support but got none. If someone here doesn't help me I will be uninstalling the Grid again and that will be it.
Please respond to my email address on file as I won't be back here again. |
