Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I have four systems running in shed and one of them decided it would no longer communicate with the router. I only look at these systems about once every day or two, because they normally just run 24/7 without any problems. However, today one of them went to disconnected on both ethernet channels. These are all servers with two ethernet ports on each one and I run cables out of both ports. The system in question had not reported anything since 4:00 AM local time and was down to its last 2 workunits running out of 24 threads. It took just a minute to get it communicating again, but I lost about 1/2 days production on this system. None of the other systems were affected. Not really sure what caused this, but it has happened before, but very infrequently. I did manage to add about 16 days onto my Beta total though.
Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Weird that a wired connection would just stop working. Was it just a matter of re-plugging the wire?

I got just over 100 beta's as well, and now am at 1 yr, 330 some days for beta testing.

It is wired into a switch which is wired into range extender which operates off of my N router in the house. There are four systems (96 threads) operating off of the switch and range extender. But only one failed.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Winter is coming. We got our first snow yesterday. The ground is too warm for it to stick around, but it snowed quite heavily for about an hour and left some on the grass for a while.

It will stick and be nothing but slush on the roads. I am sure the bridges will be slick because the temp will be in 20's F(minus single digits C) over night. Most of my trees still have half their leaves yet, so I was hoping to hold off on the raking until they were mostly bare, but the snow will put a stop to that idea. Maybe it will warm up towards the end of the month and I can finish that task.
Drive carefully tomorrow.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I see one of members has turned on some additional firepower and propelled us back into the top 50, at least for a day, hopefully for much longer. Perhaps they will give a us a peek at what they have done. biggrin

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Boy, am I taking it on the chin today. My Windows machines are unaffected, but my Linux machines, because of the invalids on SCC, have now piled up 32 pages of "pending verifications." Hopefully they will be verified by tomorrow, but today my production will only be about 3/5's of what I would normally have. But, I am guessing this has affected anyone who has been running Linux.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I had switched both of my machines to Linux for the time being. Normally at least one is on Windows for daily use, but since they are unused at the moment, linux gives much more efficient crunching, at least for SCC.
If there is a problem with linux scc work units, I'll probably be seeing wonky stats here as well. Also the machines are doing some ARP, getting close to the 10y mark soon.
Good day.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

It seems to be getting better. I am down to 18 pages of pending verification and 19 pages of pending validation. Perhaps by the end of the day it will return to the more normal 1 page of pending verification and 6 pages of pending validation.
Cheers
