Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Nice clean lines. The bottom one almost looks like a 1930's art deco building.
Cheers

O'yes, with this.
Power consumption is 0,6kWh/d. With that I can get around 10k points.

Sure was Thor's day yesterday, there is sledgehammers bounding on my head.
Well it is Friday, have to figure out something.
My last weekend plays as Indiana Jones, is obviously causing some recoil thinking

That has to be one of the most efficient machines in terms of total money spent(purchase price + electrical usage) per unit of work completed over a given amount of time. It would be interesting to see this kind of analysis for different machines.

Sure is nice.

That PC uses 30 W while I'm working, it seems to go down some when I close lid, because leveled consumption for day is 25 Wh.
I let it run 24/7.

My best laptop (Darnier) takes 55 W while lid open, but it really cannot make so much better results reflecting that it uses almost double amount juice.
So sure is some very nice ratio blushing

Here is Darniers figures:

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Being as yesterday turned out to be fairly pleasant, sunny and warm(33F or 1C), I was able to deal effectively with a troublesome ice dam on my west facing roof. Most of the time on that side it does not get too bad, but the last significant snowfall with wind had drifted a section onto that part of the roof. Combine that with a valley where the drift was and it looked nasty. It was about 10 inches(25cm) thick in the valley. I was able to remove the excess snow and remove by hammer enough of the ice to restore the channel in the valley. It is supposed to be warm again today so I hope some more of it melts off. I am lucky I have quite a steep pitch on my roof so generally it is not too bad, but the conditions were right for it this time.
Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I know it's apples vs oranges but I think GPUs are a lot better at points per watt than CPUs.

My Radeon 7770 runs off the power of the PCI slot (no additional power plugs meaning it is 75 watts max) and it does over 30K points per day. My 7870 has one power plug and does over 52K points per day.

I am not sure how to compare your machine with the one ultimatethule has. This may be one way. 30000/(75*24)=16.67 pts per watthour (if you are using the maximum wattage.) His machine would be about 12000/600=20 pts per watthour (if he uses .6 kwh per day which equates to 25 watts in use (25*24=600)). If your card would use 60 watts per hour on average (rather than the maximum)this would give 30000/(60*24)=20.83 pts per watthour.
All of this is subject to change if I made a mistake or if I am thinking about this in the wrong terms.
Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Daily consumption is setting nicely to 0,6 kWh.

Daily output is very close to 10 k point, so around 17 point per Wh.

Apropoo, some dent on energy consumption on Friday. Left office early and close the lid, might have something to do with it.
Sure was nice evening, here is ten second video summary how it went tongue
