Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I am not sure I agree with the IRS's methods because I do not fully understand all of the implications involved in this issue.

Cheers

Regardin Jean-Jacques Rommes, cost for large scale bank about IT and HR resources is 150 000 000.
There is 166 banks just in Lux, so please do the math.
As far as I can count, this is colony category operation.

IRS also refuse to make any co-operation to another directions.
If European government would ask IRS to hunt down their citizens just to be sure, they would not really receive any information just for fun.

Sure is interesting social experiment.
I miss Reagan already crying

That is a whale of a lot of money. Is he talking about the cost of complying with the IRS( software etc.) or speaking of the amount of money the banks will give up when taxes are paid or of the amount of money the depositors will move to other financial institutions like the Cayman Islands ? If the IRS is getting this information from the European banks they should certainly reciprocate and supply the same to them. What is fair for the goose is fair for the gander.
Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

It bites using the app info file. Unable to get betas. Anyone know if the beta wu's can be programmed into the app info file?

Upgrade to BOINC 7.0.44 and use the app_config file. 1000x easier to set up and easy to get betas. Don't torture yourself any more with the app_info which will be blocked by WCG before too long anyway. wink
Learn the app_config way now so you'll be ready for the change.

Sorry, got mixed up. Am using app_config file. Also am using boinc 7.0.44. How do you input beta into the app_config file? Just use beta?

I have a separate profile and app_config file set up for betas but I have to be at my computer when the betas run to catch them because I have all of my CPU cores running with my GPUs. I missed that short FAAH beta because I wasn't on line. The beta profile has 1 of the intermittent projects selected (DDDT2)and allow tasks to run on my CPU set to yes. I swap out the GPU only app_config for 1 that runs 1 GPU task and 7 CPU tasks. Great thing about the app_config is you can move them in and out without losing all the GPU tasks in your cache. It's kind of a PITA but it's the price I pay for running GPU only tasks while still trying to snag betas when available.

Below is what my beta app_config file looks like.

<app_config>
<app>
<name>hcc1</name>
<max_concurrent>1</max_concurrent>
<gpu_versions>
<gpu_usage>1.0</gpu_usage>
<cpu_usage>1.0</cpu_usage>
</gpu_versions>
</app>
<app>
<name>beta</name>
<max_concurrent>7</max_concurrent>
</app>
</app_config>

It is cost per large bank to become IRS compliant ( software etc.).
For small banks costs are 30 - 80M per bank.

Own chapter is item that this kind of injection will create conflict with sovereign state own laws.
Here in north does not make any difference because government own everybody's salary anyhow through Nordic model.
But on south it is question will free Grand Duchy pseudo metamorphose itself to foreign principality.

As far as I can understand, no way.
Last summer on ECOFIN (EU-politburo) meeting there was agenda to expand EU-model outside EU.
This was shot down by Luxembourg and Austria (both on EU).
So there is still very hard core (Lux, Austria, Switz, Liechtenstein, San Marino, Monaco and Andorra) here on geographical Europe that will defend their values.
Values inherited from founding fathers on some cases.

Amen to that!

You know, the IRS wouldn't need all these rules to identify foreign assets if the US actually had corporate tax rates that were competitive on a global scale... If we did all that wealth would just come rushing to our shores.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I need to sacrifice one i5 for some work related reason.
Did already send some mail to boss, so hopefully get this year model to replace this poor victim of proletarism.

Darn work, always separating me from hobbies and boozing.

Maybe the boss will decide you need a top of the line model. Newest,fastest, most powerful etc. smile

Work=necessary evil
Hobbies=necessary fun
Boozing=not necessary but fun if not overdone

If one enjoys their work as much as their hobbies it is not work but it is play laughing

Got reply already, well marginally better.
This current one is running on this and new on with this.

I think I will return this one to my crunching fleet and start use new one as tool.
Sure would like to do another way around but ask smallest possible (travel a lot) laptop, so think need to really use it as tool straight face
Well, still have four i5 just for crunching.
