Re: Minnesota Crunchers

We haven't heard as much about the Greeks for a while now. The rest of the market seems to have more confidence in Europe since the situation appears to be stabilizing for now. I see the Euro is up to $1.36 US - up about 7 cents in last few weeks. And maybe the market is sending a signal to Bernanke as the 10 year US Treasury bond is now at 2.02%. The money flow may be heading back to Europe and the US Fed will have to start raising rates as the market is indicating.
Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Just reached an overall ranking of 30. This is all do to GPU processing, doing over 3M ppd. Only 109 days left. I will still move up in the ranking, but once GPU processing is over I will fall back down.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Played around with Darnier (mi best laptop) and notice (it is on some very remote location, playing with it once month) that it print this line:
2/1/2013 8:31:40 AM NVIDIA GPU 0: NVS 4200M (driver version unknown, CUDA version 3020, compute capability 2.1, 994MB, 104 GFLOPS peak)

Then played more and notice that it did try fetch works to GPU also, but receive 0 for all another projects than Cancer -stuff, it popped error about GPU not been compliant or something.
But basically fellows what you think, is this one laptop able perform GPU tasks on some cases, or should I try update something on it?

Well, did get 0 almost from every project. Not really participating to all projects, need to skip Aids-stuff for political reasons.
It has some association to certain minorities, and if that screen saver wold pop up while I'm giving a lecture on auditorium or something, it would be end of mine current life.
Helsinki is year after year polled most gay-friendly and progressive city on Europe.
They are having world conference on Helsinki every year just to save travel costs.

If there would be any hint that I'm walking on that side of street, I would be transfered to HQ and promoted to some mid-tier leader.
It just would not work, sooner or later my assistant would get jail time for sexual harassment and I would get solid time on some recover institute until found cured.

Need to skip curtain project, or they will hug me alive angry

I have never been a hugger, much preferring to keep my distance to the handshake area ( except for wife and kids) smile

I know nothing about GPU, but first check to see if it is on the approved list.

Well, I was thinking more like general concept of current Helsinki.
Challenge is that every group there seems to ladle their exists from understanding of everything, and there fore individuals with own values just cannot exist any more.
This is result of very simple philosophical phrase that if you have opinion, then you are fundamentalist and there fore you are fanatic and there fore you are against everything.

Tolerance has become mundane religion here, it cannot exists itself because is rule-set of today tolerance will cover so many values, that nobody as natural person could own all of those.
Tolerance here there fore exist only on very near presence of non-tolerance and only after that. That is really only situation here when it will be summoned out on current sociality.
So tolerance is really absolution for sin of non-tolerance.

Not my cup of tea, just will move back to north when they get metro expanded here to West-side.
This time do not need to care about job or anything tongue

Defiantly a Minnesota thing. Heck, most families I know don't even hug (German descendents like my family). When I go down south everybody hugs you. Quite uncomfortable for me but I could get used to it. wink

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I am back to having connectivity problems with my remote Linux systems. They were behaving for a while, but now, once again, every time there is a glitch in connectivity every job that is running gets a computation error. I thought it was a congestion problem, but apparently not so because I have set the preferences for all of the Linux machines to different time segments that do not overlap. I am going to try an updated OS and see if that solves the problem. The one remote Windows system (XP) has not ever had the problem. There is also one system running an old version (Linux Mint 7) which also seems to be immune. If all else fails I can always load that version even though there is no longer any support for it.
Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Might have your linux crunchers to ping out periodically to keep the connection alive. Sounds like its sleeping when it wants to.

There is a good example here:

There is a lot of info on that site. I will have to read their tutorial and learn something. Thanks
