Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Well, found out if I go above 8 GFAM wu's at a time, my lost time goes from 5 to 10 minutes. I leave it at 8 with 2 climate crunching keeps it under 2. Don't quite know why but will leave it alone until my climate projects finish next month. Then will swap hard drives. Kind of reminds me of CEP2, the more you crunch, the worst you loose time.

I still think there is an I/O bottleneck someplace, but beats me where. After thinking about it a little bit, what happens when you mix 3 or 4 different projects ? Maybe they would not all be using the same resource at the same time as heavily. Just a thought.

At 100,000 a day you're still humming even with that little bit of lost time. Crunch,Crunch,Crunch !

Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Am pretty sure it's the hard drive. 5 years old sata II from my 2006 Mac pro. Just hope it finishes my projects before I switch the drives.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Lost my Internet connection today for about 6 hours and to top it off my MacPro lost a hard drive. In the process of restoring it. Had to go buy a hard drive. 500 gig Seagate, 7200rpm, 109 bucks. <sigh> frustrated

I lost mine for about three hours yesterday afternoon. No hardware issues on my end, fortunately enough. Glad I never ran out of work too.
