Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Prime grid had one particular project that was doing just gpu so think that will be the case here. Hope when WCG starts using the gpu, they will do the same thing.
For poem@home, do you need a double precision card or will single work?

What I've gleaned from that post is that Linux will be first to get the app then windows. Not quite sure yet if it will work with single precision cards or not. I'm guessing since it's openCL they will probably make it so single precision cards will work.
No pref's yet for gpu crunching only.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Thanks for the info. Guess I better put my card in my Linux box. It's only a ATI 5670. Didn't do to bad On prime grid but might start looking for a double precision card.

Pretty nice. Make sure you do not let it overheat. That i5 is quite economical for for crunching.

Cheers

Specially that, there is actually 2 cores and 4 threads...
Notice that power supply is 60W so there cannot be 4 core CPU inside...

But still does some very nice figures to be craptop, well when not disturbing with works or anything tongue

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Ok, I read post number one in the thread and I'm guessing that Brianmn is the team founder. A little research shows that he is now a member of team IBM.

You are correct in that Brianmn is the team founder. Somehow brinktastee was able to contact him and have him vacate the the team captaincy. I had joined the team because I liked the name. I thought brink or txvb should have been the captain but they convinced me so here I am. Brink and txvb knew a bunch of the other people and gradually they got them to join. Pretty nice group of people as near as I can tell.

Cheers

I asked brianmn if he would give up being captain since he was not actively crunching at that time. From the tone of his email he had no problem with giving up being captain. He was curious how I found his email, I told him I guessed it.
Then txvb and myself recruited as many people at work that would join and our friends. There are a few still crunching even after our company cut off crunching from company PCs.
Now you know the rest of the story...good day. coffee
