Sounds like your handling it. Bravo. It's sad when those who do have this and don't get help before it's to late. How much for the blazer? Can you list the specs? Much rust or other issues? I will list the blazer for $1,500 but I will take less for it. it is: 1993 chevy blazer s-10 tahoo 4 x4 with towing package, has roughly 165,000 miles on it. the engine is a vortex 4.3L Transmission is a auto. it needs a exhaust system. the tires still have close to 50% not to much rust for it's age, a little under the doors, and some spots on the back. driver side window don't go down. no ac good heater. in 05 had the upper and lower ball joints replaced. about 3 years ago had the starter and the fuel pump replaced, cap and roter has been replaced 2 years ago. heater fan has been replaced 2 years ago. last winter had the vacuum replaced, after the vacuum was replaced the 4x4 works good. in a day or so I will get some pics of it, if it is not raining. the VIN# 1GNDT13W9P2153223 below is a website that you can look up the VIN# http://www.decodethis.com/Default.aspx if anyone knows of anyone who is looking for a blazer just let me know I anyone is interested or know someone who is interested in my Blazer I have it posted on Craigslist and I have the link to it below. I will take less than the asking price http://brainerd.craigslist.org/cto/2311703391.html |

Not much storming around Clearwater last night. Some booming but mostly rain. Saw them building as they approached. Looked a bit gloom but glad they dissipated. How did everyone do? Hope this next round does the same.

Not much storming around Clearwater last night. Some booming but mostly rain. Saw them building as they approached. Looked a bit gloom but glad they dissipated. How did everyone do? Hope this next round does the same. I was going to leave everything running but the thunder started sounding too close, so I shut down everything and unplugged from the wall. No use tempting fate. I do not have the rain gauge out yet, but based on the amount in the dog dish this morning I estimate about 1/2 in. (1.25 cm). I sure do like the new speed on HCC. Cheers

My 2 rigs are both on separate ups's. With the temps climbing, shut down the Mac mini and probably reduce cores on the harpertown rig soon. The westmere system stays pretty cool even when it warms up. Just hope the summer isn't to hot. Don't want to shut down.
----------------------------------------Just looked at the 10 day forecast. Looks like we will be dipping in temps at night. Looks like the lower 30's some nights. I stopped GPU crunching due to the higher temps but looks like I can crank it up again for a few more points. Had a small set back a few days ago. The legs started hurting allot. Doc ordered some steroid anti emflamatory to calm down the back. Some days I wonder if it was worth the pain but suppose only time will tell. Would advise anyone contemplating this to make sure you have no other option. Long recovery time, sleepless nights, restless days trying to figure out what to do sitting all day, and allot of pain. Will be glad when the healing is done.

Ah, a Midwest spring. We got into the upper 80's yesterday ... and are likely to get snow this coming weekend. We were just lucky that none of yesterday's storms came through here.
----------------------------------------Two questions for you guys: 1. To keep crunching this summer without the machines overheating, does it work better to reduce CPU usage percent, or to reduce number of cores used? 2. How do you set up to run GPUgrid on an ATI card under Windows? I can find nothing about that -- GPUgrid site makes it sound as if it can't be done, but I know Bearcat does it! ![]() |

You can reduce the heat a few different ways. Move your systems into a cool place, such as the basement. Little extreme for me so I reduce cores and crank up the fans a bit until I am comfortable with the temps. I use xeons so there made to take some heavy work. Regular cpu's probable shouldn't be stressed as much.
----------------------------------------As for GPU grid, am running win7, I had to finish all my work, uninstall boinc, then reinstall BUT make sure you do NOT run it as a service. Once I did that, my GPU was recognized and started crunching.

It hit 75F over the weekend and was quite humid too. My office thermometer his 86F inside (even with windows open) so I cranked the two quads in there down to 2 cores. It's a 95W processor stock, figure 120W or so with the overclock, so shutting off a core should save about 30W I figure. The UPS meter showed similar results. I also brought the HTPC down to 3 cores from two, and brought the laptop down from 2 cores to 1.
----------------------------------------I throttle by cores because that reduces the RAM footprint too. Also, changing the CPU time is very ungranular. For instance, setting it to 80% ends up being like 4 seconds of 100% and 1 second of 0%. On my laptop that makes the fans spin up and down in rhythm. Kinda useless. The "old" WCG client was actually much better about this, it was probably sliced the time into miliseconds. I wish BOINC was granular like that...

Hmm, I wonder what my problem with GPUgrid is on the AMD Fusion machine. When BOINC comes up, it recognizes the graphics card, but I can't get any GPUgrid WUs. Collatz is running just fine. ![]() |
