Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I figure it is using less than 500 watts so it should be running at 90% efficiency or a little higher. "So I got that going for me....which is nice."

PSUs are usually most efficient around 70-80% load. Below 50% load their efficiency drops A LOT! I noticed in that review they didn't test below 50% load.... hmmm.... :D

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Hope to have it installed and crunching by Sunday. Delivery is Friday or Saturday. So far so good on GPU crunching. No crashes yet. Been raising the clock a little to see what happens. Still stable. Thinking the latest update from AMD is working out. Been looking at a 6950. Nice GPU. Might try to swing this for my next upgrade.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I want to crank it up a few more notches to see if it's stable. If that works, then will max out my CPU and see how it works. Yours is a nvidia so I may not have the same luck.

My boys Dell is a ATI 5760 single precision GPU. That is the system I put the monster PSU on. I plan to upgrade the GPU in the next couple months. NVidia will be his next card.
My NewEgg build has the Nvidia 470. That card rocks. When that card start going down in price I plan to by another on and SLI them together. cowboy

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I should be getting my RMA replacement for my Antec Power Supply from UPS today. It will be good to get my HTPC up and running again, it's been out of commission since the end of December. Antec didn't have the TPQ 850W in stock so they're replacing mine with a 1000W instead!
