Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I tried to get my GPU to work under ubuntu but still no luck. Updated the drivers but nothing. I'll fiddle with it some more but will let the well dry in case I have to switch back. Just hope the new drivers for windows works better than before.
Finally found a E5472 on eBay. Bidding on it now. With 2 of these, should crunch around 32000 ppd. My dual E5420's are averaging 25000 ppd now. A little more help for the team (if I win the bid).

There are some known issues with Ubuntu and video cards not working properly to crunch, depending on whether installed manually or from repository.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I got tired of messing with it so am back on windows for now. So far so good with no restarts from GPU crunching. Decided to try dropping 2 threads to see if this helps.

Just curious -- which GPU projects are working for you under Windows that didn't work under Ubuntu?

Sounds like the new PSU fixed the problem - inadequate OEM PSU. Have to file that away for future reference.

Cheers

Am running GPUgrid. I could not get boinc to recognize my ATI GPU even after adding more time, as was suggested to do. Running good so far with the latest ATI drivers.

Did you call the electric company to put more juice to the grid in your area after you flipped the switch? laughing Your lights probably dimmed when you fired up the computer? laughing

Warming the house with it laughing
Seriously though, it is running perfectly now for several hours. I figure it is using less than 500 watts so it should be running at 90% efficiency or a little higher. "So I got that going for me....which is nice."

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Are the 1000 watt psu's different as far as cabling or anything compared to smaller psu's? Looked at one for my system but wasn't sure if I needed that much juice. Grabbed a 850 watt instead.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

It was about 1/2 inch longer but fit nice and snug.
