Take a look at these new egg deals: http://promotions.newegg.com/Intel/110110/ind...el%2f110110%2f270x120.gif I just might buy this i7 box and get the 12 month no interest with the preferred customer thing. See if I can slip it past the wife. ![]() You do realize that's not a complete i7 system - still need a power supply, RAM, HD, video card.... the quad core AMD system I posted earlier for $375 actually IS a complete system...

Anyone running ubuntu on a super micro mobo? Just installed 10.4 and ubuntu is throttling my processors. I remember someone complaining in these forums but can't remember the fix. My other box running 10.4 had this issue but seemed to work itself out and is running max speed. Another issue is tried running lm-sensors but seems there are none according to my applet. Pretty sure all mobo's have sensors. Or maybe something different for super micro. Any help appreciated.

Once it's there go to preferences and set it to the CPU/core you want to adjust. Do this for each core. You can add more that one of these to your bar. If anyone know a better way please post it. |

Yup, seen that. This is a faster system and I can "trickle" the rest of the harware in later. ![]() |

Already did that. Didn't work so I went in the bios and locked the frequency to max. Still throttling. Maybe it will settle down after awhile like my harpertown box did.

Did a download test during the heavy snow. I'm less than a mile from the cell tower up at Normandale Plaza. This is downloading 2 iso files using 20 threads. Not too bad.

Looks real good for download. Upload a large file and post. Uploads are usually slower than the download.

Looks real good for download. Upload a large file and post. Uploads are usually slower than the download. Those CEP2 uploads are big - 24mb. They take a little more that 20 minutes to upload from my systems. Usually my quads are getting them one at a time, but the DL360 is getting several at a time nicely interspersed with the various cancer units, so it is only crunching a maximum of 2 at any one time along with 2 cancer jobs. Seems to do OK. Cheers
