Do not mind, my boss pays my one Internet connection, so I still need to pay only another one Lucky guy. Wish my boss would pay half of my internet connection. Not going to happen. I do have a company cell phone, but only because I am basically on-call 24x7, which I do not really mind. Cheers Even my "cheap skate" company pays $30 dollars of my internet and $30 dollars for cell phone costs every month. Hmm, I should get a pay as you go cell. I bet I could make money on the deal. We got 9" of snow from that last storm. My snow blower is broke so I shoveled it and pulled a muscle in my lower back. Cheese and Rice, I'm hurting today. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 5, 2010 11:13:01 PM] |

Sweeeeeet! How did you break her? I see the boy gets something, what does the boss get? Should be a good cruncher. Will this be dedicated to crunching or is it dual purpose?

Looks like a pretty sweet deal. Fast processor, fast SSD, should be a fast machine. Gotta let us know how she performs.

This is going to be a dedicated cruncher!! How did I break her? Well, I finally got the preferred member account working at Newegg. Some mix-up that they finally figured out. With that I get 12 months no interest. I just make payments for 12 months and I'm good. She took it. Oh yeah, and she was sick of me pestering and going on.... No 4G here of which I am aware. Supposedly coming in the future though. Winter has now come in earnest. We have about 6 in(15cm) of snow and it will be -5F(-20C) tonight. Cheers Sprint is rolling out 4G to the Twin Cities area. Most areas are already covered, though not the suburbs that are really far out just yet. I got a flyer in the mail about this about a month ago. Price/performance wasn't a match for Cable internet, but surprisingly close - plus there is the mobility aspect of it.

"giggity giggity goo, oh right!" quagmire So how many crunchers do you have now? Is this one the fastest of the bunch? Have never used a ssd. Am curious if it's better than a hard drive. Speed and longevity. Surprised she didn't use a frying pan to shut you up instead. You should by her a special Christmas present.I snagged a x5482 (3.2 ghz) harpertown last week from eBay. Only one though. Could not pass on the price. Only draw back is it's 150 watts. I hear this is a real hot one to cool. Hopefully install it by Friday. Will go on the mobo holding the 2.5 ghz harpertowns. Then these will replace my slow 2ghz woodcrest chips. Now to find another good deal. ![]()

Then I got the 2 x 2.66Ghz Xeon macpro and the core 2 duo 2.4Ghz macbook. Then 7 P4's ranging from 1.8 to 2.8Ghz. I will probably sell at least 4 of the P4's when I get my new i7 built. I should have another sapphire badge by tonight. That leaves me with the beta badge to get yet then I will have my badges maxed out. ![]() |

Sweet. How did you deal with CEP2? That project is a royal PITA.

Sweet. How did you deal with CEP2? That project is a royal PITA. I have a few P4 Linux boxes (single core single thread) that can't do that project. They run at 10 - 25% efficiency. I don't know why and I don't think the WCG techs know either. I can't wait to do 8 CEP2 work units on this new rig. Supposedly CEP2 runs better on SSD drives We will see.According to Sek's recent graph it looks like that project won't be around much longer. Childhood cancer project looks to be finishing up too in 2011 along with DDDT2. I plan to do some GPU crunching on my new rig too. GPUGrid or Milkyway...don't know yet. Need to research first. This will be a first for me. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 8, 2010 3:50:35 AM] |
