Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Oh yeah, 6 to 10 inches this weekend? yuck. Edit: We refinanced our house today and she put the kibosh on it. crying

They are not being real specific here. 2 to 8 inches (5cm to 20 cm). I think Bearcat will be out plowing over the weekend. I foresee a lot of slush. The ground is plenty warm yet. Thankfully I dug the rest of my potatoes last weekend.

Hope you got a really good rate on the refinance. Either you can pay it off early or you get some more money in your pocket. You are better off either way.

Cheers

4.50% Fixed. No closing cost, no fees of any kind.
Save about 60 bucks a month and shaved off 4 more years off the loan.

Am laid up for awhile. One of my bad disks got worst, pinching the nerve in my lower back. Couldn't walk for 3 days. Never want to feel that pain again. Waiting on an appointment with a neurosurgeon to see what needs to be done. That's what I get for putting things off I guess.

Sorry to hear that. A bad back is nothing to fool around with. No personal experience, but have seen the misery it has put co-workers through. Hope the Docs give you some solution.

Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Thanks. Been dealing with bad discs for years. 1st time it buldged in the nerve. Worst pain I have ever felt. Took a leave of absence from work until I can figure this out. Don't want to try to drive truck and have another episode. To dangerous to the public or myself.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

We had around 8 inches in Apple Valley through Friday night and Saturday. Sunday morning it warmed and changed from snow to light rain, and the temperatures since have melted down a few inches already. Driving around on Saturday was real fun though - put my snow tires on Friday after work so that was perfectly timed. In the morning I drove from AV to Eden Prairie and back a few hours later. Saw a half dozen people in the ditch who ran out of talent, traction, or both.

Seriously people, proper snow tires are a great investment. Usually $900-1200 will get you a set of snow tires and an extra set of wheels for most any car. They'll last at least 5 years though since you only run them in the winter.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

The problem with the drivers in the twin cities is they won't slow down for anything. Always in a hurry to go nowhere. Heck, last year when we were gang plowing, practically straight across, these dumb drivers try to go in between our plows. They don't learn until it's to late. Gets kind of scary plowing at times. Hope I can get back to work soon to plow.

Right on. I grew up in the Twin Cities and it was taught to me at an early age that it doesn't pay to rush. Generally speaking if you leave 15 minutes earlier and you don't rush, you save gas, time and your blood pressure. Now I only live 7 miles from work and if it snows heavy, I leave early, just how early depends on the amount of snow. It's called planning ahead. Good advice about the snow tires and extra wheels too.

Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I think a lot of these problems would go away if our great state had much tougher driving tests to pass before getting your driver's license. Yeah, this would cost more, but I'm sure you could fund it with higher license fees. A longer permit period would help too.
