Re: Minnesota Crunchers

My internet is 16Mb/sec cable, though oddly I've seen 19Mb/sec+ at times.

Who is your cable provider and do you pay extra for that speed? confused

Charter in Rosemount/Apple Valley. As I understand it, Comcast handles most of the rest of the Twin Cities. Yes, I do pay extra, but there is always some 6 month special package bundle available and I always find another when it runs out. Right now I pay $150/mo for the 16mb/2mb internet and expanded + digital + HD DVR cable TV.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Some investing stuff...

I do not have any high yields bonds directly right now but I have some dia fund that own only €uropean high yield papers....
On nine month those have gained more that twenty percent, and it is start to be problem to me.

I start to be afraid loosing current position, so instead of having fun, I start to worried about loosing what gained.
I think it is time me to sell, I simply cannot take pressure any more, I really need to release myself from that agony...
I do not know how to buy on bottom, so how on earth I would know how to sell on top either.........

Well it is fund, so it is very liquid, I can get my money out there on Friday....

Ou poi what yield, red one is my portfolio, blue one is stock main index.
If I would out my money to stock EFT, I would have -6% from original capital. With corporation loans, +26%.

I think this is best operation on my investment history...

I think it was JP Morgan(the man, not the institution) who told an investor to only invest the amount of money so they could sleep well without worrying. So if you worry about the investment, sell. If you don't worry hang on for the ride. Those are great returns on your portfolio. Double your money in less than 3 years at that rate, if it would keep the same.

Cheers

You need to put them on a UPS. Unless you loose power for awhile, they will keep happily crunching. My Mac Pro is on a 1500 APC so it will go about 30 minutes before auto shut down.

I do not worry much about a power outage, but I do worry about lightning strikes. Even a good UPS will get toasted if you have a lightning strike, even if it is not a direct hit. Thankfully there was not lightning last night and I resumed after the storm had passed.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Somm very nice thunderstorm here also.

I really miss those hardcore storms when I was living more northern on my parents house, there was really some bombardment because city was between ridges.

Once me and my big brother was blinded something like few minutes because we did have our noses on window when stringing hit to out house or somewhere very close. We literary did use our hand's to make our way to found light switch. Did not make much difference...

Then once one pine from yard lost few yard of bark.
One lightning did dig one meter ditch.
Once we lost two telephones and couple of TV's (my Amiga 500 was saved).
Once we did get some very nice home video when old man on next door figured out that it was just pressure wave that did twist aerial and climb to roof to fix that, well it did take fire debarment to get old man back to earth.

Our dogs did not even seems to notice hold phenomenon tongue
