In the last 15 days we've added 336 new members/day
----------------------------------------We are increasing at the rate of just .18% /day 336 new members from right around the globe That said the 122640 extra crunchers over the next 12 month will mean we will break through 300K members by this time next year. I know we can do better than this and with this kind of enthusiasm and the projects coming down the line we will ![]() |

I think Sekerob has a point, in Holland (as well as in every other country) there are lots of science magazines like "Quest" or "Kijk" and newspapers with sience editions.
----------------------------------------And what about TV-stations like Discovery Channel and National Geographic? I'm sure that there are lots of people interested in this kind of grid-computing but are just not aware of the fact that it exists... [edit] It keeps surprising me that there seem to be so much people that even don't know SETI@Home. I thought everyone would know it. Lot's of guys from my age 20-25 who use computers every day for a hobby even don't know it. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by depriens at May 25, 2006 7:06:25 PM] |

Hi, I have been recruited through an article in Czech Internet News. Perhaps this will be a good thing to try - not all internet users speak English, and not only British or Americans have computers... to gain bigger supporter base should mean to produce articles in more than one language.
As this is voluntary, it might be dificult, but from my experience, if people know about good thing, they might give it a go. On the other side, if they never heard of it, they cannot even have an oppinion. My point: if this whole project will be in Spanish or Chinesee only, how many people speaking only English will join up? Probably not so many, because they would not be fluent in Spanish or Chineese enough to understad all benefits - but it does not make the project more important. Message: multi - national project needs multi-langue support. Thanks for reading, Hana |

The best way to get increased paricipation is to bundle Boinc with Windows. If you buy a machine or upgrade your operating system, you're now a member. Of course you can turn it off if you want. But, most people won't. Within 1 year there would be more members than we need.

I was wondering, how about a documentary on TV wich would explain how grid computing works and why people join it. You know it is something really special for some people to have thousands of crunchers like us who give their computer time for something they are not paid for.
----------------------------------------Also, it would be fun to see what the servers look like and how they manage all the information they get back from us. And I also think that maybe the small, local, journals may be a good way to recruit new members. |
