I presume that the stat generator and my banner include points given by WCG, regardless of whether the agent used in BOINC or UD, correct? Yes. ![]() |

I've created a Yahoo Groups forum for HomeBrewers. It's not that we can't talk here, and I really don't expect a lot of discussion there, but I've created it primarily for two purposes:
1. As a recruitment tool aimed directly at beer brewers; I expect a number of visitors will happen upon that page while looking for homebrewing groups to subscribe to; 2. Since these WCG forums are open to anyone, it is easy for a team member's post to get lost amongst the visitors; the Yahoo Group forum will hopefully consist of just members and discussions amongs ourselves or visitors interested in either brewing or our HomeBrewers team. If you are a HomeBrewer, please join that group -- even if you decide to not subscribe to mail and never intend to visit. I'd like to get at least a few members so visitors won't think it's just a dead group. To subscribe, please visit http://groups.yahoo.com/group/homebrewers-team/ and while you're at it, I also have a very active group of homebrewers who discuss brewing equipment at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BrewingEquipment/ Thanks. Congratulations, HomeBrewers. We've already met our goal of making it into the top 500 teams re points by March 15th -- 3 days early -- and our team is only 111 days old today. We also posted our highest daily points today!!!
We're doing so well that I think we can try to make it to the top 400 by April 1st, so that gives us just 19 more days. It will probably be close, so we really do need to recruit at least a couple of more members as soon as possible, so that we can consistenly produce like we did yesterday; that should get us there for sure. We also want to stay ahead of BOINC@Australia for as long as possible. With their gain of only 5,619 today, we are now 44.4 days ahead of them, at todays rate of gain. We're trying to get as close to 300 as we can before they pass us. Cheers. Bill Velek |

Thanks, V_R, and please allow me to return the congratulations for reaching the top 200. That is exceptionally impressive -- to make it so quickly -- when one considers that you are only 9 days older than our HomeBrewers team. Fantastic performance!! With fewer team members, you must have some heavy hitters on your team because you're producing almost twice as many daily points as we are. I know it isn't mathematically possible for us to catch you unless things change, but someday we'll make it into the top 200, too, and eventually into the top 100 -- although it'll take us years to do it because we have such a narrow edge each day over those top teams, and they already have such a huge lead in points. Maybe we can gather our strength and have a big recruitment push this summer and get another 15 or 20 members. That will make a big difference.
Cheers, Bill Velek |

Thanks, Ady. I've made this one of my hobbies
as well as the main focus of my benevolent work (not that I don't also contribute to other charities). This is one of the easiest and cheapest ways for people to contribute toward the good of mankind, but its still such a hard sell because the vast majority of people seem to view it with suspicion -- no doubt due to the proliferation of scams and malware on the Internet.Cheers. Yes, congratulations, Bill! We made the top 500 on the 1st of January, and it was quite a struggle. Hopefully, you will continue to grow and fly through the rankings. There's still a lot of dead wood at the top.
Today, we made the top 64. Doesn't sound impressive, but remember we're geeks and we tend to think in base 2. We're 2^6! \o/ |
