Re: New project is coming!

Good question. MCM has been running ovarian work since 25 September 2023.

Re: New project is coming!

Based on the post just made about an extended downtime, I would guess after the improvements, so perhaps a few months.

Re: New project is coming!

I wonder if we will actually see stuff pass through the old WCG Beta test system or whether they'll just go for a full launch? If the software is [more or less] the same as they use for MCM, the latter is a possibility, though probably "not a good idea" as there will be some problems at first.

Have we seen a single beta test since WCG is run by Krembil? I can't remember, but I could be wrong.
However, it has been best practice for many years to do controlled beta testing rather than just releasing a project to users. The most recent example was the moderately successful relaunch of ARP.

I definitely agree about best practice! However, I don't think there has been any tinkering with source code since IBM ran for the exit, so there hadn't really been any need until now :-)

I do believe that there should be a controlled external test in this case even if the software in use is the same as for MCM1, as there are likely to be differences in the algorithm control parameters...

The other reason I'd be hoping to see Beta tests via the WCG mechanism would be for versions using ARM architectures (Apple Silicon and otherwise); unfortunately, I doubt they have the staffing levels necessary to build the software or monitor such a Beta test at present :-(

Cheers - Al.
