I have one system that was activated and using the DEFAULT configuration since Dec 1st; system obviously is not automatically adding it to the DEVICES list but, does list the system along with the WUs processed in the RESULTS list.
I added another system more recently, it is performing as above and sent a message from the CONTACT link on the home page mentioning both units. No response to that message! |

Hi everyone! In our most recent forum update, we discuss measure that are being taken to fix the missing devices issue. Please let us know in that thread if you have any questions about its contents. In addition would you please consider adding a "Delete Device" from the VERY VERY long list some of us who have been doing WCG since 2009. I have devices listed as last seen on '05/29/2009 08:55:09'. That device is LONG gone and it just clutters up the list especially since I reuse device names as I replace devices to make things easier on backups etc. So for instance PC1 could be on the list 5 or 6 times and when I change the venue it doesn't always work unless I go thru the WHOLE list to find ALL the devices named PC1 and change every single one of them. I don't care what happens on your end for researcher preservation purposes but if you just let me delete them from what I see and can control it would be a whole lot easier. Hi GuiltyDoggy, I see device 8674500 matching your account in the WCG BOINC server database, along with many recent results (thanks!). I can also see that this device has no entry on our webserver's database, which is why it doesn't appear in your device list on the WCG website. Updated device data is supposed to propagate from one DB to the other, but fails in some cases. We're looking into the cause. Aside: So why doesn't WCG's BOINC server use the same database as the webserver? Worse, they don't even use the same DB platform. There are complicated, historical reasons, but none that apply today. It's an awkward arrangement and an ongoing pain-point for us that we're stuck with until we can overhaul it. But for now, WCG internals rely on a system of automated scripts to keep the data updated between DBs. That system has some cracks, clearly. Thank you for providing those specifics. They provide a good data-point for our investigation. Christian Hi cubes, I have similar issue here. I added a week ago a Windows very fast device, and I can see a lot of results validated in the results list, but the device don´t appear in the device management page. . I can´t see this improvemente in my results validated added to my History page too.. Can you help me ? Need any additoonal information to check it ? Please let me know. Thank you in advance |

Just for the record, I started crunching at 3 Dec and on 20 Dec the website started tracking my progress, my devices have been enlisted and overview looks reasonably up to date.
Seems like all my previous results (pre-20 Dec) don't count into the statistics and are lost, but that's not an issue for me. |

Cheers Only glitch right now is that the number of WUs stuck in PV jail has about doubled since WUs started to be send out again, pretty much all MCM1, so they won't count in any external stats for now.... I started with a new device (upgraded an old one) before Christmas, and still not showing up. So does that mean I simply shut it off if it's not contributing to anything except to burning electricity? Unless I'm mistaken, BOINC stats shows the contributions. If that's not true either, then this is demotivating and super frustrating. |

I would give it a week or so and see if it shows up. Krembil seems to have some glitches in synchronizing their databases, but they eventually get around to it. Cheers

Krembil seems to have some glitches in synchronizing their databases, but they eventually get around to it. I'm still waiting for my renamed device name issue to be resolved. Several forum posts and two support emails so far. I did receive one email stating "Missing devices are an issue we have heard from many volunteers and the tech team are working on fixing it. I'll redirect your email to them so they can help you figure it out once they have a solution.". All my devices are appearing in Devices. I renamed one device. The old device name is still appearing in Devices. This is a different issue. I sent another support email last week clarifying the issue. No reply from Krembil. I've been waiting for a couple months to get this fixed. This shouldn't be this difficult. All that's needed is to run this SQL (or something similar) on the Web database ... update <device-table> set device-name = 'Dell-Optiplex-990' where device-id = 8649578; WCG tech support - #2791 [Edit 25 times, last edit by AgrFan at Dec 29, 2022 2:44:19 AM] |
