@Cyclops It might be helpful if the listing of “resolved” and “known but not yet resolved” issues in your initial posting in the forum be updated to reflect current status. Your last edit was Nov 1st. Perhaps a link to the newest “system status” forum might be in order? I have some other ideas as well - you have my email. Hi bfmorse, I update this list every time the tech team tells me they have solved a listed issue and can provide the solution they've found. I'm unsure what you mean by “system status” forum, can you link the thread you're thinking of? [Edit 1 times, last edit by Cyclops at Nov 15, 2022 6:55:13 PM] |

Cyclops, BOINC projects other than WCG usually have Project Status similar to Rosetta@home.

Whch doesn't help at all if the web site itself (which would be needed to show such a status page) is down, as it has been recently rather frequently the case with WCG.Beside that I personally don't see what the exact value of such a page would be... Ralf Well, I can think of at least one item which may be useful. I think it would be helpful to know how many work units are in the feeder ready to be deployed for each project. Also perhaps how many work units are in some uncompleted status such as pending validation, pending verification and error. Tracked over time, a spike in any of these could indicate a problem. Not that I as a user could do anything to fix that problem other than notify techs of the problem, especially if they do not have some internal system for automatic notification of problems. Cheers

I'm unsure what you mean by “system status” forum, can you link the thread you're thinking of? "System Status" - I guess I should have said THE FIRST MESSAGE IN THIS TOPIC. Because it satisfies my thinking. I apologize to you for not getting all my thoughts in order and it would seem that I let my frustrations get the better of me while I was being sidetracked at work - all the while attempting to post my original message. I understand you only update that message when the tech team gives you the update information. Then I might suggest that your original message be modified from: The thread will be updated when new issues/fixes are found,... To change "The thread" to read "This message". When is a new issue is discovered or reported, how soon is it added to the section: The issues we are aware of but remain unresolved: Thanks for keeping us current with what is going on. |

This is an issue I haven't seen mentioned anywhere before:
There is an abnormal discrepancy between member statistics globally and geographical statistics. There is a substantial gap between the two items - I noticed this about a week ago for the first time (and might have been there since 20 October - there is a huge dip there in my personal statistics); the gap hasn't been getting smaller. To show more light on the matter, I have taken a small sample of membernames that have contributed about 50 CPU days yesterday. Also, I have been searching (on BOINCstats: search example) to find out to which country these members belong. I did this, because I found that - while I'm processing about 45 CPU days per day - there is still this huge discrepancy between my global and my geographical statistics: personally, I'm missing about 68 CPU days in the geographical statistics for The Netherlands. The missing amount would be the equivalent of 150% of what my computers can process during one day. I know that there are statistics missing from before 29 September 2022, but that isn't what I'm describing here, this is different. Here it looks as if computations for updating the geographical statistics have been skipped one, two or maybe even three times. Here's what I found:
(The statistics in the table don't align all too well because the links to the membernames are in a different font.) Snapshot was taken on 2022-11-25 21:00 UTC. |

Yes, I've noticed a discrepancy for a number of weeks now and it's between the number of points, runtime and results in WCG Stats and those sent to my crunching team (PC Review Crew II, the only team I've been involved with) here in the UK.
----------------------------------------Could it be that EVERYONE is missing two or three days' worth of stats which will never be made up?

Our team stats some days had no increase when I had but date set as if run.
----------------------------------------My personal stats had gaps/partial days when website was crashing often. I expect other stats like country are also not always incrementing but not checked. Paul.
