I tried running this beta on a Radeon HD6700 series GPU. The work unit did run - initially at 10% per minute at 10% progress before slowing to 1% per minute at 20% progress after 20 minutes and 0.5% per minute at 99.999% progress after 2 hours with zero time remaining. Probably was stuck at 0%, so BOINC goes into inaccurate progress mode which stop at 99.999%. If stuck, will eventually automatically stop with time exceeded error. As for getting stuck, can look at AMD driver versions, maybe re-install or change driver versions could possibly fix. After a suspend / resume the work unit restarted at 0% progress. I aborted the work unit. Should such GPUs be excluded from being sent these work units? When I see this beta GPU app start on working GPU (AMD RX 580, RX 550, 5500 XT), it appears to go fast to 10% or 20% from BOINC inaccurate estimation, then a minute later, goes back to 1% progress, probably from the app itself finally begin to use fraction_done function which is often more accurate. My suggestion to developer / app makers, is if no checkpoint to resume, then use fraction_done(0.0001) as soon as possible at start, so this should shut off BOINC inaccurate estimation and just show 0.01% done. |

Ohh uplinger is back on, must check for new WU's arriving. Yes, I'm back on. I don't plan on adding more to the mix until UTC is beyond 00:00:00. I plan on adding 10 batches just to make sure the points and everything match what I'm expecting to see when we go live during production. As far as I can tell, it is, but to be 100% sure instead of 99%, I'm running these 10 extra batches. These are going to be the last 10 batches for beta as I do not plan on running any more. I know this thread is long, but I have posted above what my next steps are: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg...d,43290_offset,250#654259 Hope this helps :) we are pretty excited on our end. Note: I'm curious to see what the points will look like from today's large beta. Thanks, -Uplinger |

Sadly I missed out on most of today's big beta due to a spectacular mistake on my part last night. Having had first covid jab on Sunday evening the side effects were upon me Monday night and yesterday and there was some tiredness, fever, etc. It was at this time Windows wanted to do updates.
Updates went well but I found out this evening that in my fevered haze last night I had somehow clicked "no new workunits" whilst shutting down BOINC to do the updates. Being huge ARP units it wasn't obvious when restarted, or this morning as it wasn't short of work at that time. Fast forward to tonight after work, and seeing new betas in the forums, then not seeing any in my results I diagnosed the problem and have been kicking myself for my stupidity for the last few hours. |

So the R5 235 is incompatible because of lack of OpenCL (despite TechPOwerup saying otherwise), but why is it saying that Nvidia GPU is missing? ("Application uses missing NVIDIA GPU") For Nvidia GPUs, that can mean that you are using a graphics driver downloaded from Microsoft rather than one downloaded from Nvidia. Microsoft offers versions with the CUDA and OpenCL sections removed. Nvidia offers versions with those sections in place. In other words, the GPU may offer OpenCL even if the driver doesn't. |

Updates went well but I found out this evening that in my fevered haze last night I had somehow clicked "no new workunits" whilst shutting down BOINC to do the updates. The side effects (first shot) hit me after day six. The same as you, and I must have been in a haze too. I found NNW for MilkyWay on a machine that has done nothing else for months. We need to stay away from BOINC for a while until they can research this condition. |

I received over 600,000 points to today running on a Ryzen 5 5600X and GTX1060. When I have bouncing between 50,000 and 100,000 with CPU only. Seems like a crazy amount of points. Hope it is helping the researcher do a similar increase in their science.

Note: I'm curious to see what the points will look like from today's large beta. Thanks, -Uplinger Keith. I'm happy to report I pulled in over 1.4 million points from today's beta run. WOOT! A well done to you and your team.

Also, NICE BOOST TO POINTS OVERALL!!!! 600 Million points added!!!!! WOW! That's about half of what seems to be the normal daily point totals for WCG as a whole. Will we get similar or even higher point totals when this goes to production? [Edit 1 times, last edit by pokemonlover1234 at Apr 1, 2021 1:19:59 AM] |
