It's over since 30 minutes or so. 5000 work units just take around 30 minutes, and they're gone. Poof......
----------------------------------------Edit: I got 9 of them, and the last one was finished 40 minutes ago. [Edit 2 times, last edit by Grumpy Swede at Apr 1, 2021 3:54:01 PM] |

I have an ATI 6870. It has a similar problem. I get up to about 60% and then it seems the GPU stops working all together. Maybe these cards are too old :(

Keith, Here is another oddity from the FWIW dept and is only posted for your reading enjoyment. This happens because the differences in the cards. Say you have 4 threads on your GPU and they have 20. Yours may do a search for the answer differently than theirs. This does not mean your answer is wrong or theirs, it just means that your card may have found the answer by complete luck better. With that said, do I think the 331, 710 and 770 make sense, I will review. The 331 seems really short in terms of points. The 710 and 770 make sense in the statement above. Also, internet back up and running. Moving the 10 batches to be loaded within the hour. Thanks, -Uplinger Keith, I also found another task with the same points awarded differential so I did a little more digging and found the following. One of original 2 tasks (_0 and _1) was declared invalid. In both cases 2 more copies (_2 and _3) were sent out by the server. All of the other 3 were declared valid. 2 of the 3 that were deemed valid were awarded the most points. The remaining valid about half the points. Which copy got which amount of points seemed to be randomly assigned without regard to compute power of the card. Hope this info is somehow useful. Putting my OCD on hold. ( for now) Can you send me that one as well. Looks like there might be something I need to review in greater detail. In the first one, I need to confirm from the logs what exactly happened, but I need to dig those out. Thanks, -Uplinger |

Not getting any GPU tasks at all. none for me either, despite editing my profile file to accept Nvidia GPU jobs weeks ago. Same here. Guess we'll have to wait till the stable version is distributed. *taps feet and mumbles 'patience, my young padawan'* |

Guess we'll have to wait till the stable version is distributed. *taps feet and mumbles 'patience, my young padawan'* Shut down and restart the BOINC client. Then check the log file to make sure BOINC is recognizing your video card. If the log says "no usable GPU found" you will not receive GPU tasks. If it recognizes your GPU then your just having back luck getting betas.

Nanoprobe and FritzB,
Thank you for the information. It has uncovered a bug in the way credit is granted. Basically the 3rd result being returned is correct but it's credit is only being granted a percentage of what they completed against the total points that the canonical result was granted. So, in the example from the first one, they all only did about 45% of the initial estimated results. The one that was marked as canonical result was _3 which was granted 710 points. Then the 3rd valid result returned did a multiplier percentage against the 710 points and not the starting points. I will be working towards a fix, but it is minor and should not require additional testing. Thanks, -Uplinger |
