Keith, Here is another oddity from the FWIW dept and is only posted for your reading enjoyment. Result Name OS type OS version App Version Number Status Sent Time Time Due / Return Time CPU Time / Elapsed Time (hours) Claimed/ Granted BOINC Credit BETA_ OPNG_ 0000329_ 00217_ 2-- Microsoft Windows 7 Professional x64 Edition, Service Pack 1, (06.01.7601.00) 728 Valid 4/1/21 06:03:06 4/1/21 06:11:28 0.01 0.4 / 331.6 BETA_ OPNG_ 0000329_ 00217_ 3-- Microsoft Windows 10 Core x64 Edition, (10.00.19041.00) 728 Valid 4/1/21 06:03:05 4/1/21 06:10:11 0.02 0.4 / 710.3 BETA_ OPNG_ 0000329_ 00217_ 1-- Microsoft Windows 10 Education x64 Edition, (10.00.18363.00) 728 Valid 3/31/21 19:31:02 3/31/21 19:58:43 0.01 0.4 / 770.4 BETA_ OPNG_ 0000329_ 00217_ 0-- Microsoft Windows 10 Professional x64 Edition, (10.00.18363.00) 728 Invalid 3/31/21 19:30:52 4/1/21 06:02:54 0.02 0.4 / 0.4 I was waiting for someone to post something along the lines of i got different points then the other user/wingman. This happens because the differences in the cards. Say you have 4 threads on your GPU and they have 20. Yours may do a search for the answer differently than theirs. This does not mean your answer is wrong or theirs, it just means that your card may have found the answer by complete luck better. With that said, do I think the 331, 710 and 770 make sense, I will review. The 331 seems really short in terms of points. The 710 and 770 make sense in the statement above. Also, internet back up and running. Moving the 10 batches to be loaded within the hour. Thanks, -Uplinger |

Also, NICE BOOST TO POINTS OVERALL!!!! 600 Million points added!!!!! WOW! That's about half of what seems to be the normal daily point totals for WCG as a whole. Will we get similar or even higher point totals when this goes to production? We should get similar points for work done in production. The validator and assimilator which were tested this past week are the same ones that I'll use in production. Thanks, -Uplinger |

Looks like a pretty successful run. Congratulations! A couple of oddities I can see in the points: - My claimed credit is always 0.4, whereas granted is typically somewhere between 700 and 1200. I understand the granted figures, but the claimed one looks odd. Not that it really matters... - My tasks usually fly solo, but on the occasions when there has been a wingman, his/her granted points are always slightly different from mine. An example is https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/device/...s.do?workunitId=598068979 granted values 1054.7 and 1035.3. There is probably a valid reason, but just pointing out in case it's an accident. Thanks The claimed credit is done on the scheduler when a result is sent back in. For this case, we did not need to use any of the BOINC mechanisms for granting points in this manner and reached out to our friends at Einstein@Home for some insights on how they are doing points for GPU in particular. The easiest way to get you granted credit without causing a major test against the scheduler was just to assign it during validation based on values described previously. On your second point, look at my response to nanoprobe a few posts back, this should help explain why there is a difference. Thanks, -Uplinger |

Ok, I'll try 2 WU's at the same time on my GTX980 during this (last?) Beta run.
That is, if I'm able to get any tasks at all when the feeding frenzy starts. |

Thanks, -Uplinger Keith, I also found another task with the same points awarded differential so I did a little more digging and found the following. One of original 2 tasks (_0 and _1) was declared invalid. In both cases 2 more copies (_2 and _3) were sent out by the server. All of the other 3 were declared valid. 2 of the 3 that were deemed valid were awarded the most points. The remaining valid about half the points. Which copy got which amount of points seemed to be randomly assigned without regard to compute power of the card. Hope this info is somehow useful. Putting my OCD on hold. ( for now)
