I'm only downloading 1 WU at a time (queue of 3 for 2 active cpus), so I can image with multiple WUs downloading at a time you get bits of each one, but takes longer to download 1 full one. It would be good if it could prioritize downloading bits of one WU at a time. I raised this on the BOINC boards recently. It is a requested feature over at git-hub where the code is worked on but it has been for quite a long time with no one leaping up to own and work on it. This is the link to my last post about it there. There is a way to control this within the Boinc Manager Client on our pc's, you can change it up to like 8 and down to 1. No this doesn't 'fix' the problem at WCG though but it could make it better. Open cc_config.xml in your Boinc data folder. Look for <max_file_xfers> and <max_file_xfers_per_project> Change those values to your liking. Save. On the Boinc Manager... click Options - Read config files ![]() ![]() |

Sunday Report .
21,606 units validated in 7 days so anaverage of 3,086.6 per day, the highest for 6 weeks. Assuming that a full generation 182 will be the last, there are 1,744,441 units still outstanding, so my forecast end date would now be 23 October 2025, however we are still coming out of testing so we should finish well before then. The definitions of normal & accelerated have moved on 1 generation. There are 40 Extremes and 21 Accelerated units, although the numbers in their generations are 212 & 5,270 due to lack of movement/change of definition.. I have actually had units downloading continuously for about the first time. Mike |

Thanks for the update Mike. "only" 1.7 million WUs to do. I hope we can get back to our 10k/day rate some day.
I'm only getting a dribble of resends at the moment. I've allowed some MCM into the mix just to keep my computer asking more frequently. |

Downloads seem to be much faster now so maybe more will be asking for them. I have a 'new' 8 thread mni pc coming so will allow 4 of them for ARP. It is the same spec as my current machine. My current machine jack socket has failed so has to be replaced although still ok for anything else.

Alot of that problem is new people still using the default 10 day cache in the Boinc Manager, I've always thought that was a mistake to keep it like that for this time of alot of people having cable and not needing a huge cache of tasks anymore Default "10 day cache"? What BOINC client has that settings?I just checked a couple of my clients (one with a WCG provided client, one with a newer BOINC provided one) and the default is 0.1+05=0.6days of cache. Default. Not touched in any form, shape or color... Btw, between about two dozen hosts working on WCG right now, ARP1 (as well as MCM1) as a selected project, I just got one (1) ARP1 WU in the last 3 weeks... Today I followed a workunit on its way to validation (as I was testing one of my scripts). It lasted four minutes to validate after the upload of my result was completed. In case you're interested, see the output below.

Why,oh why, are we not getting any extremes? We especially need those 3 ultras to start moving. Are they stuck? Do they need their timestep adjusted?

I agree Mike. They need to RELEASE THE ULTRAS !
I'm no longer getting any ARPs, my stream of resends has gone to a trickle. I'll do some MCMs today to keep my machine in contact with the server, just in case I catch the rare ARP resend. I think the last update said the ARP people were having issues (on top of WCG having issues), so hopefully they can sort this out before the weekend. |

Still seeing occasional ARP tasks, but only as they expire on other clients.
Earliest seen in the last few days was 134, currently running one from the 139 series. |
