My main worry is that there are those who want to help, but can't due to the cost of electricity these days. With the world the way it is now, I feel like these projects are needed more than ever. +1 Cheers

the tasks are produced at the rate they are released. we are not the bottleneck, they are.
as a whole, WCG is not drying up, but ARP is getting the least work. Other than TB which never got any work tbh... |

ARP has a much higher capacity requirement for up- and down-loading and is not a medical project. Krembil is a medical research institute and probably has limited resources, so obtaining the higher capacity just for a non-medical project is probably lower on their priority list.

Thanks for the update Mike. So far they can't give us enough WUs to keep us busy. Once they can, some of us will dust off other machines to add to the mix. Some who left will come back, some who never knew WCG before will join. We will worry about it once WCG and ARP are ready for more processing power. It will be a good problem to have :-) My main worry is that there are those who want to help, but can't due to the cost of electricity these days. With the world the way it is now, I feel like these projects are needed more than ever. I agree with you but it will also depend on us users telling others that WCG is back up and running and the 'backoffs' in downloading problems are over, until then I think people will stay with the other projects they are doing now as they have tasks on a regular basis. ![]() ![]() |

No one expects people to go out and but the latest and great cpu or gpu just to crunch, yes it happens but that's on them. Most projects have alot of chaff to get thru to the good data, crunching even one task at a time, even if they are only doing the chaff HELPS!!! ![]() ![]() |

ARP is different from other projects in that there is no chaff. Each unit is 2 days in the life of a patch of Africa. If that unit doesn't get done then the rest of the year cannot be run for that patch,

If that unit doesn't get done then the rest of the year cannot be run for that patch, Mike I did not know that,. thank you, I guess then I wish they had more people to look at our results so they could then produce more tasks for us to run. I'm guessing they don't want to have 10 years of data in the future and then find out that La Nina or whatever changed the equation in 2023 and everything after that needs to be rerun. There used to be a Project doing American Prairie grasses but it went by the wayside when the Project Director took a new job at a different University. Travis something was his name and he had several interesting little projects like that and they all died as he moved from job to job. ![]() ![]() |

Actually they are only running 1 year (183 generations).

Interesting fact about how ARP works. I've noticed since the move I haven't seen as many as I used to. I was one of those who built a special purpose pc just for WCG so it could handle the load. I see that the back off issues have almost disappeared. I ran into some yesterday. I've had it up the last three days running non stop mainly seeing open pan and mapping cancer marker work.

The backoff on downloading issues have primarily related to ARP and have not been occurring when there have been minimal ARP units available.
