Although I too like a large variety of projects, isn't MCM and MIP enough? Both projects seem to have plenty of work to do for years. No computer will run out of work soon :) Computers won't run out of work soon, but Android device yes. My phone is crunching its last unit for OpenZika, while it is able to crunch 8 units at a time. It is at 93.1% of its last unit, and it is not downloading any more work unit... In a couple of minutes my phone will be out of work Maybe DreamLab is a good alternative for your phone until there is new work. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id...one.dreamlabapp&hl=de |

Maybe DreamLab is a good alternative for your phone until there is new work. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id...one.dreamlabapp&hl=de Yes, I already used DreamLab on my phone in the past, and I still use it on my iPad since there is no Boinc app on iPad. But DreamLab is definetly not as efficient as Boinc. You can't run it on the battery and you can't set how many cores you use. And it seems it uses only 1 core. A lot of unused power! Well... my phone is running Rosetta@home right now, so it's still good to be able to contribute to some groundbreaking research. But I would prefer to have only WCG projects, it makes it easier to only visit one website to monitor the progress of the projects and get news related to the projects. |

2. There is about 1-2 weeks of work (ESTIMATED) left for this current group of work units. Once they've run out, there will be a pause. At this point, we're not sure how long the pause will be. I'm wondering what's the actual status as almost 4 weeks passed since that and there's work still being sent. |

But keep in mind these are chains which go through a large number of people before they finish. A quick check of my cache and few are resends.
----------------------------------------For badge reasons I am hoping this holds out for a few more weeks but am assuming I'll just miss my goal with the hope that the project becomes active again sometime in the future. We'll see~ |

If some are on chain 170 and some are on 190, and the experiment shuts off, it really makes you wonder if the last twenty iterations were even needed.

Last two experiments have been 'finished' for quite some time.
https://fightaidsathome2.cst.temple.edu/status.html The implication I'm getting from mod posts is that the project is programed to run to a MUCH later chain or forever, and they're manually pulling the plug when they get 'enough' data. The prior two experiments ended abruptly, and for a while the status website was listing progress as passing 113%. My concern is that, when it's all over, the researchers are gonna compare the lowest common denominator - if one work unit is on chain 200 and another is on chain 150, they're gonna compare the 150th result on both, and the extra processing power will have been wasted. |

Thanks for your reply to my question. I do not think the scientist would allow our cycles to go to waste

I'm not convinced, and have been asking the same questions on and off since last year. -
----------------------------------------I've got iterations 174 and 206 running on the same computer. Which of those two was estimated to complete in one to two weeks? If the project would end today, and all information was adequate, what makes the 32 extra completions on the second WU any more adequate? I suspect that cycles are being wasted because it would be 'too time consuming' to have a staff member individually server abort each chain of work units, but not too time consuming to let us all run these things for a few extra months, just to ensure that the slowest work units reach a predetermined minimum. Or worse, that IBM has not budgeted the bandwidth and storage were volunteers to switch to *projects with higher upload/download requirements*, so they're having us all idle until the next batch of AIDS work units is ready. Cuz that's a ton of wasted electricity from volunteers. And a lot of wasted time that could be going to experiments with finite goals. *Microbiome Immunity Project: Per Unit Download 50 MB, Upload 1.5 MB FAH2: Per Unit Download 0.2 MB, Upload 1 MB.
