Here's a summary of the work unit progress to-date (as of August 5): Available for Download: 2,837 batches* In Progress: 9,650 batches (3,918,375 work units) Completed: 206,515 batches total, 9,049 in the last 30 days, 301/day average *NOTE - The researchers are building more batches--this is just the number available for download as of today. The researchers do not have an estimate of how many total batches they will be submitting for the project. This is the type of information most crunchers are looking for. 2,837 batches / 301 per day can give some semblance of a time line with the understanding that more batches will be provided later. What would be helpful is if the new batch counts could be provided once they are known and available to download. Once again with the understanding that there will be more later. Intermediate time lines are NOT ECDs !!!! They are just expected dates that those sets of batches will probably be completed. Thank You for the information |

2. The research team is beginning to examine new technologies that may help speed up their work in the future. So still no word of when they're going to fix their L3 Cache problem???![]() ...KRI please cancel all shadow-banning[Edit 1 times, last edit by Aurum420 at Aug 8, 2019 2:55:29 PM] |

We had a quick call with one of the MIP researchers today. (Many of them were out due to a holiday in the US.)
----------------------------------------1. Tomasz Kosciolek, the researcher who recently took a faculty position in Poland, visited his colleagues in San Diego for several weeks. They worked on the MIP papers that have been discussed in previous updates. 2. There's currently about 10 days worth of work on our servers, and the researchers will be building more. There should not be any break in work. Update on work unit progress: Available for Download: 4,467 batches* In Progress: 8,841 batches (4,278,131 work units) Completed: 213,881 batches total, 8,855 in the last 30 days, 295/day average *NOTE - The researchers are building more batches--this is just the number available for download as of the date of this post. The researchers do not have an estimate of how many total batches they will be submitting for the project. [Edit 1 times, last edit by caitilarkin at Sep 4, 2019 5:48:59 PM] |

Here are notes from today's monthly call with the MIP researchers.
1. They are working on creating more batches--generally they like to have at least 2,000 available for download, but they'd like to have a larger backlog going forward. The first step (which they're working on) is pulling more targets to look at. 2. They're putting an informal paper up on a pre-print server (not an official publication) that gives an overview of how the researchers plan to use the MIP data. As soon as the paper is up, we'll publicize it in the MIP forum. This paper is considered a preface (or introduction) to the three formal papers that they've talked about in their project updates. 3. The three upcoming papers will focus more on protein function prediction and biology. 4. The researcher in Poland gave a high-level talk about the project a few weeks ago at a local meeting. Update on work unit progress (as of October 1): Available for Download: 1,730 batches* In Progress: 9,925 batches (16,285,432 work units) Completed: 22,1948 batches total, 7,749 in the last 30 days, 258/day average *NOTE - The researchers are building more batches--this is just the number available for download as of the date of this post. The researchers do not have an estimate of how many total batches they will be submitting for the project. |

Is the number of batches "available for download" from the researchers site or the number available to the members to download?

Is the number of batches "available for download" from the researchers site or the number available to the members to download? This is the number we (World Community Grid) have available for volunteers to download. |
