Re: Viktors updates

Just finished our monthly call with the researchers.

1. They're almost ready to submit their first paper to be reviewed for publication.
2. They're continuing to create models to predict the functions of proteins, and this work is going very well (this is related to their first paper).
3. They'll be sending us more work units over the next week or so.
4. They're starting to think about how to make their data publicly available to other researchers--they will do this sooner rather than later, possibly after they publish their first paper.

Thanks so much for sharing, Caitlin. Really appreciated!

Re: Viktors updates

Just finished our monthly call with the research team.

1. They're building several thousand new work units right now.
2. They are talking to another group of researchers about their protein function prediction data.
3. Tomasz Kosciolek, one of the researchers from UCSD, will be giving a talk at a Supercomputing Frontiers conference in Warsaw soon. He's planning to mention World Community Grid during his presentation.

Re: Viktors updates

Highlights from our monthly call with the researchers:

1. They're continuing work on several papers.
2. They're also working on how to make the data public--planning and executing this will take quite awhile.
3. Two of the researchers have recently given talks about the project to scientific audiences. There's another presentation scheduled for July at another scientific conference.

Re: Viktors updates

Thanks for the update. It's great to hear that the research team is working so hard on getting results out to the scientific community.

Re: Viktors updates

We just finished our monthly call with the researchers.

1. They're building additional work units. The current plan is that the project will have steady work on WCG for quite some time.
2. They're starting to do protein function predictions based on the data that has come from WCG. This is expected to significantly expand the body of knowledge in the field.
3. They're meeting in person in a few weeks to work on one of their upcoming papers.

Re: Viktors updates

Thanks, Caiti.

It's great to get these little snippets as to what's happening on each project.
