Windows 10

Anyone have success with Windows 10? Anyone experience a driver update when running the World Community Grid software? I'm wondering how it handles that.

I have had no problems with Windows 10 on several computers. All were upgrades, and WCG didn't skip a beat. Many driver updates during and after the upgrades without any problems. Crunching efficiencies equal those of pre-update.

Re: Windows 10

You will not have problems with WCG or BOINC, but...you will probably have to reinstall your printer drivers, and other computers in the HomeGroup will have to rejoin the HomeGroup in order to print on a USB connected shared printer. HomeGroup and printer settings still get wiped out with every major update. I am running "Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview Evaluation Copy. Build 10525." I have repeatedly given feedback about these two issues.

At least the other drivers, including the Catalyst Control Center for AMD/ATI, are good.

Re: Windows 10

Wiped out with every major Windows 10 update? How about with a new, Windows 10 compatible printer (I assume some printers claim that). I'm planning on buying a new printer anyway.

I need a new printer. I have an HP DeskJet 3520e All-in-One ($44.95). The Windows 8.1 drivers for this printer work for Windows 10, the problem is that the printer and network settings are not kept.

Re: Windows 10

After updating to Windows 10 a few things stopped working, and some dodgy things happen every now and then like things randomly close or don't open or updates start throwing random error msgs etc... but overall performance and battery life on a laptop is very impressive and no issues with BOINC. This OS definitely has potential but needs more work!

driver update on WCG is not a problem, 'cause all driver updates to MBO, CPU or other main components require a Reboot!

on GPU upgrade might be a problem, but on WCG there's no GPU project...
but, that said, I hadn't got any problems on SETi@home or Einstein@home GPU projects!
cool
