Re: New Beta Test starting Oct 31, 2013 [Issues Thread]

Careful with the axe Eugene ;). As with some other sciences, could be we're preloading a database that is used to spawn tasks from. At least, on all three devices I only see one of these:

beta17.dataset-GDS2771-v1.txt at 31,967 KB

edit: Have not watched it, could not watch it, as I was asleep when these tasks arrive and their 'initial' program files. Did that txt file get transmitted unzipped? [Though modems real-time compress data anyhow, as best they can]

Re: New Beta Test starting Oct 31, 2013 [Issues Thread]

Yet another phenomena to look at. This Linux run task ran over 6 hours, but recorded only 1:47:02

World Community Grid 7.19 beta17 BETA_BETA_9999986_0503_0 06:14:42 (01:47:02) 31-10-2013 15:17 31-10-2013 15:17 28.565 Reported: OK 94.36 MB 63.52 MB

As BOINCTasks so skillfully does, it logged 'well below' peak usages for memory and vm. The log, much more shorter:

AND, as was pseculated on in my previous post, indeed the 31MB file is the database the tasks pull from.

Re: New Beta Test starting Oct 31, 2013 [Issues Thread]

Running Beta testing in the middle of the night (Austin time) are we?

Yes, I started the Beta once I got the go ahead from the researchers. It did come in the middle of the night Central time. There should be more beta work coming from the researchers. We do not have them yet though.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

Re: New Beta Test starting Oct 31, 2013 [Issues Thread]

Rob - sorry, I don't understand what you're trying to tell me.
There are 540GB free on the drive, 390MB WCG data, limits set to 10 GB disk space, use at most 50%.

The settings used for this beta were 512MB of disk space and max of 10MB result file.

We do know that some of these work units create large files, however it appears that a larger percentage of results are coming back with resource limits being hit. We are investigating this now.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

Re: New Beta Test starting Oct 31, 2013 [Issues Thread]

Opps, bad math by me. I will correct.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

aborted for exceeding 500mb of disk space instead of 512mb

This test will have system requirements of:

400MB Ram
512MB of disk space
10MB result files

I wanted to catch the output file that grew so large, but unfortunately it was deleted immediately..

Re: New Beta Test starting Oct 31, 2013 [Issues Thread]

I am getting an error message, "not requesting tasks: project is not highest priority." confused I got one Beta which seems to be running normally. Checkpointing looks OK but I am not going to try to restart it as I only have one.
