Overall, managed to snag four on my quad and two on the C2D. All but one have already completed in about half the initially estimated time. For the one still running, observed it checkpointing about every 10 minutes with the progress percent in BMgr constantly changing. Suspended (with keep in memory on) and resumed. Elapsed time is updating, CPU time is not changing, at 89.836 percent complete and memory usage is at 151,nnn K. Will report separately on other tasks.

Edit: After about 15 minutes, suddenly went to 100%.

Thanks Rob and Nano. Since I have not run WCG in ages, I detached and reattached WCG on the machines that did not get any work. I no longer get the message on these. Two machines are still running Beta wu's so I will detach them later. Thanks for the comments.

The "not requesting tasks: project is not highest priority" message shows up in BOINC all the time even if WCG is by far set to the highest priority. (BOINC 300%, other project 1%) It usually sorts itself out but sometimes it takes a while. FWIW I have found the problem is less frequent if you set the lower priority project to 0%.

It has something to do with the REC (Recent Estimated Credit) scheme. That it is beyond my understanding is not the problem; the problem is that it seems to be beyond anyone else's also.

Of the other three on the quad, two have run to completion and then errored on the results file size error (the error code 131). Third one appears to have run fine.

My 3GB memory eating task (BETA_9999984_0461) finally died after a restart due to C++ Exception Out of Memory.
At CPU 3h45m running there was no cpu progress anymore (enough memory left), so I suspended with LAIM off.
After restart the task started with the 0.5% init and was probably reading the 1.3GB minichromosomes checkpointo file. After about 6 minutes: Computation error.

The two on the C2D seem to have a new/different problem not yet mentioned in this thread. Looks like they hit something called the wcg_learn_limit. Also look wierd in results status:

Right, in the essence, resource allocation [it's truly screwed], is supposed to be credit earned base, not time base what it used to be [And that sure would take care of over-granting]. Since credit award happens with delay ** [don't we all see that...], REC is also taking place on the client, so is my understanding, but how the heck could that ever be right, and given the 700 BOINC servers no longer produce 'claimed' [WCG has hacked that in, but will be dropping this at some time in the future], how could a client ever take account of what's open and what's not nd by how much? So, a waste of time discussion to the power 10, and I did write in one of those linked threads, to stop watching [it's a health advice too ;o].

** The client fetches new credit totals with delay too, if not connecting to a project, the totals are stale as listed in the client are old news... Ready to Report can accumulate too for 24 hours e.g. Task size estimates vary too, making cache erratic as well, to add to the equation.

Looks like I've picked up two WUs, one on my PC at home and another on a very slow physical server hosted in work.

Can't remote-control the PC at home, but the server in work's WU has an estimated completion time of 38:43:41 (when it starts), will be interesting to see if it completes that properly and successfully (and within the deadline).

Just got a resend on WU where user got the 131 error on the results file. Is this worth crunching? IE, did the parm get changed or will I just run into the same error? I'm the _2:
