Check Checkpointing per request: Half of the 13 do not progress past 0.500% which kind of appears within the first dozen seconds or so. Using BOINCTasks 'Highlight' feature for specific logging, Win7 32+64 + Ubu 13.10 64. Write to Disk set to 180 seconds, on one machine 6 of 8 have checkpointed.
----------------------------------------added later: And then, suddenly some have progressed fast forward from .500% to 20% 1.5 hours into the job. 3 of 13 now stuck at 0.500%. Suspending with LAIM on and resuming does nothing. Suspending with LAIM off does nothing, in fact, though confirmed to have switched off LAIM... 31-10-2013 09:04 [cpu_sched] Preempting BETA_BETA_9999986_0620_1 (left in memory) task is held in memory. Repeated the suspend action after it had accumulated ~33 minutes, waited a minute, resumed and task reset to zero %. CPU to Elapsed time ratios are above 99% for all 13. edit: BOINC did not like what I was doing with 8 concurrent [though 8 concurrent CEP2 on same is OK]. All tasks reset, though some were at over 1.5 hours back to zero progress... now all showing 0.500%. 47710 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:07 Resuming task BETA_BETA_9999986_0620_1 using beta17 version 719 in slot 11 47711 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:10 Task BETA_BETA_9999984_0167_1 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 47712 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:10 If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 47713 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:10 Task BETA_BETA_9999984_0183_0 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 47714 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:10 If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 47715 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:10 Task BETA_BETA_9999984_0807_0 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 47716 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:10 If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 47717 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:10 Task BETA_BETA_9999984_0808_0 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 47718 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:10 If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 47719 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:10 Task BETA_BETA_9999984_0814_0 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 47720 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:10 If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 47721 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:10 Task BETA_BETA_9999985_0800_0 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 47722 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:10 If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 47723 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:10 Task BETA_BETA_9999986_0620_1 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 47724 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:10 If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 47725 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:10 Task BETA_BETA_9999986_0503_0 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 47726 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:10 If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. edit2: As mumak noted just before, after a while for some the progress% fast forwarded, one now at 61%. Edit3: There's a number of them that now have stuck CPU time, elapsed running. Suspend WCG, waited a minuted and resumed. All reset to about 20 minutes xcept those of edit 2 that recovered progress. Now 7 of 8 show CPU use again. edit4: Repeating the suspend/resume on the stuck task, with LAIM off, and finally it started counting again, but from zero seconds. edit5: Are the apps 'sticky' though LAIM is off? On the quad Linux suspended WCG where one after 55 minutes was still on .500%. This is the log, showing that 2 exited and 2 were left in memory: 1483 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:34 [cpu_sched] Preempting BETA_BETA_9999984_0328_1 (removed from memory) 1484 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:34 [cpu_sched] Preempting BETA_BETA_9999984_0176_0 (removed from memory) 1485 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:34 [cpu_sched] Preempting BETA_BETA_9999984_0109_0 (left in memory) 1486 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:34 [cpu_sched] Preempting BETA_BETA_9999984_0057_1 (left in memory) 1487 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:34 project resumed by user 1488 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:34 Restarting task BETA_BETA_9999984_0328_1 using beta17 version 719 in slot 4 1489 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:34 Restarting task BETA_BETA_9999984_0176_0 using beta17 version 719 in slot 5 1490 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:34 [cpu_sched] Resuming BETA_BETA_9999984_0109_0 1491 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:34 Resuming task BETA_BETA_9999984_0109_0 using beta17 version 719 in slot 6 1492 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:34 [cpu_sched] Resuming BETA_BETA_9999984_0057_1 1493 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 09:34 Resuming task BETA_BETA_9999984_0057_1 using beta17 version 719 in slot 7 edit6: In the real world where things will not run uninterrupted, suspended the only BETA which was too stuck at 0.500%. The sequence shows the CEP2 resumed, then suspended a FAHV. The BETA had a nasty way of resetting, whilst the CEP2 was unperturbed. 2 machines where I have not seen the 'If this happens..' for a long time, though on all 35% CPU Exceed is set to pause BOINC when it gets too busy i.e. the non-BOINC load never exceeded 35%. In an effort to get the machine to re-kick the task in motion... progress counting backwards, CPU time frozen, elapsed time running [BOINCTasks just the superior tool to monitor], first suspended with LAIM off, no change. Then susped WCG completely, no change. Then stopped the BOINC service and restrated. Here the beta task fell back to zero seconds computed. Same routine, a quick0.500%, then both time measures counting as normal >90% efficiency. Together with one task on W7-64 [out of 8], and this one, 2 of 13 have not gone past the initial percent mark. No checkpoint debug entries for these found in the message log like these, right when one finished in 3:05 on the octo. 47857 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 10:20 [checkpoint] result BETA_BETA_9999984_0814_0 checkpointed 47858 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 10:22 [checkpoint] result BETA_BETA_9999986_0503_0 checkpointed 47859 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 10:26 [checkpoint] result BETA_BETA_9999984_0808_0 checkpointed 47860 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 10:26 [checkpoint] result BETA_BETA_9999985_0800_0 checkpointed 47861 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 10:27 [checkpoint] result BETA_BETA_9999984_0807_0 checkpointed 47862 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 10:30 [checkpoint] result BETA_BETA_9999984_0167_1 checkpointed 47863 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 10:30 [checkpoint] result BETA_BETA_9999984_0814_0 checkpointed 47864 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 10:36 [checkpoint] result BETA_BETA_9999985_0800_0 checkpointed 47865 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 10:37 [checkpoint] result BETA_BETA_9999984_0808_0 checkpointed 47866 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 10:37 Computation for task BETA_BETA_9999984_0167_1 finished 47867 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 10:37 Started upload of BETA_BETA_9999984_0167_1_0 47868 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 10:37 Finished upload of BETA_BETA_9999984_0167_1_0 47869 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 10:37 [sched_op] Starting scheduler request 47870 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 10:37 Sending scheduler request: To report completed tasks. 47871 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 10:37 Reporting 1 completed tasks 47872 World Community Grid 31-10-2013 10:37 Not requesting tasks: some task is suspended via Manager The Result log... had hoped to see the OS detail being printed [reminder], but don't discern it. First Beta WU finished after 1 hour 55 minutes.
----------------------------------------The WU having 0.500% progress after 45 minutes and then jumped to 20.000% 10 minutes later, jumped to 40.000%. So it seems to be no bug - just let those WUs crunch undisturbed. Edit: Another jump to 60.000% just happened. Ask not what the world can do for you - ask what you can do for the world. BETA_BETA_9999984_0421_0 still hasn't checkpointed after 1h30m CPU time on an i5-750. Betas on other cores on the same machine all checkpointed within 15 to 20 minutes of starting.

Rob - sorry, I don't understand what you're trying to tell me.
----------------------------------------There are 540GB free on the drive, 390MB WCG data, limits set to 10 GB disk space, use at most 50%. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Mumak at Oct 31, 2013 9:11:47 AM] |

ERR_FILE_TOO_BIG -131 One of the output files is bigger than the maximum set by the project for upload. BOINC will not try to upload this file. Solution: Go to the project's forums and report this behavior. |
