Well the forecast down south is sunny and warm for the next week so fingers crossed for your free electric, i did suggest swapping to Octopus to my house mates/landlord but they didnt like the idea as there peak usage is 4-7pm pre covid-19 plus we are on a set 3 year contract with 1 year left so maybe we can look at the end but i like the look of the tarrif and who doesnt like free electric. To give you an idea unsmurf, here is the comparison for April for me, this year vs last year when I was on the regular tariff. This year we have 3 adults working from home, and some heavy WCG crunching, hence a hugely increased consumption April 2019 336kWh, Normal Tariff £54, Agile Tariff £43 April 2020 484kWh, Normal Tariff £73, Agile Tariff £35. So basically, I've used 144% of the electricity for 85% of the cost compared to last year. OK, so this year has been exceptional due to lack of demand/over-supply, but it just shows you what's possible with more renewables. Even with last year's figures I was saving money on this tariff, and I've not gone to much effort to avoid 4-7pm. I've just been checking the rates and putting the dishwasher on in the middle of the night, kind of thing. The figures for May so far are even better... £25 this year which would have cost £53 this time last year. If anyone wants to sign up, just ask and use my referral code for a £50 bill credit. You do (obviously) need a smart meter for this tariff, and new meter installations are currently on hold.

so I'm hoping I'll overtake Steve in the team 7-day points rankings. I think you will do it, I got 4 big ARP units and wife has me turning the computer off at night, every night! ![]() |

I think you will do it, I got 4 big ARP units and wife has me turning the computer off at night, every night! I did it, for one day at least! All thanks to ludicrously cheap electricity and your over-zealous wife, DMNI. Here are my consumption/cost figures for the past three days: Friday: 18.3kWh, £0.45 Saturday: 19.9kWh, -£0.14 Sunday: 22.4kWh, £0.62 That's an average unit cost for me over 3 days of 1.53p / kWh.

Let us know how you get on Thargor. Here is my new lap record in an MX5 Cup car, was 3 seconds faster. You can see how much I have improved. https://youtu.be/_nttUNosR7A Just managed to install and squeeze in 4 laps of Brand hatch in the Mx5 Cup - very slow 2minutes 10, definitely not in your league DMNI. Will have to get a wheel as the cursor keys are no fun at all. ![]() Looks like we can do live head to heads so we could set-up a race one day. I'll be the back marker ![]()

Mac1, that is pretty good with keyboard controls. Imagine driving a normal car with a keyboard, hard to do, then racing fast, next to impossible.
----------------------------------------That Lap I did was my best time ever. Not been able to match it but got close. I'm not consistant enough yet to do 10 laps and stay within .5 a second per lap off that time. once I can do that, I'll be confident enough to race online. Lots of hours of practise, then need to learn how to overtake or defend properly, while maintaining top speed. I highly recommend reading "Driving on the Edge by Michael Krumm", You will learn lots of things you can use on real roads and how to properly drive a race car. ![]() |

8 cheeky laps at lunchtime, managed a couple under 2 mins 1:59.1 was my best.
----------------------------------------I need a wheel though, it's a ll a bit binary with the keyboard.
cheers,

I'm going to be ordering that Arozzi frame and a Logitech G29 (with shifter, I think), this weekend, once I've been kindly paid by work.
----------------------------------------Thankfully had a deeper look into it, especially the Q&A for the frame, as it seems you need a few extra bolts (M6-type, of varying lengths) in order to secure the G29 to that specific frame. Guess I'll be ordering some of those, at the same time, since I don't have any lying around. That would have been a pain, to get them all and then realise I had no simple way of securing the wheel/pedals to the frame itself! ![]() ![]() |

I find that you really do need proper back support as it can take a bit out of you otherwise. That frame will hold your chair fine. Will be buying one myself soon, and some M6-type bolts of varying lengths, nice to find that out Thargor.
----------------------------------------I bought Assetto Corsa Competizione and gave it a good run last night. It is very much setup for racing by default, as expected, and has even more settings to mess with. It also can be a lot harder to drive in some aspects, like if you go over the big hump on some curbs, the car will spin around 180 degrees. Assetto Corsa is a bit more forgiving. Mac1, sub 2 minutes is very good with just a keyboard. You will be flying when you get all setup. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Darkmatter.NI at May 26, 2020 8:23:39 PM] |
