Thargor, I tried RaceRoom Racing Experience, and found the tracks to be a lot tighter than they should be, I also was driving a car that should have stuck to the track like glue and it went off with no steering control at a very low speed. Could be just some setting adjustments required, which I will try later today. You also do not get many cars and tracks for free, still good to be able to try it out. Just did a couple of laps of Stowe (short) in one of the saloon-car style cars you get for free, it felt like it had the turning-circle of a small house (probably better-designed for oval circuits and similar), but the game itself seemed to run nice and smoothly! As expected, though, trying to control the car with keyboard wasn't as much fun as it could be! ![]() ![]() |

Loads of new badges for lots of people in the past week, not surprisingly. The team has already run up 10 million points on OPN. Let's hope we can make a difference. Congratulations everyone. Also managed to bag two new badges myself which made me very happy!

Let us know how you get on Thargor. Going to wait until next pay-day (which, in theory, should be at the end of next week), and then hopefully get the wheel/pedals/frame ordered! Will keep you posted! ![]() ![]() |

I'll see if playing regularly changes my mind on that, though, and I find another track that I like more. Brands Hatch is always a good one, I love watching the BTCC race there (albeit only on the TV, unfortunately). Have been to Silverstone a few times, but never actually driven on the track itself, just various car-shows that were there. ![]() |

Nice, I've never driven on a track, really wish I had.
----------------------------------------Donington Park is good track but requires the ability to corner really well, especially on the old hairpin. Project cars 2, a close second to Assetto Corsa, might be the software you like more as it has Oulton Park and other british tracks and cars. Assotto Corsa is more european orientated, doesn't even have Aston Martin or Bentley, it does have older mclarens but not the newer 720 or 750. Project cars 3 is due to be released in a year or so and will probably leapfrog AC. ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by Darkmatter.NI at May 23, 2020 7:24:34 PM] |

I spent the day at Silverstone about 20 years ago and did half a day skid pan training and other half doing laps which was amazing but the best bit was having a hot lap with the instructor driving to show us what could be done round the track and he was a good 10 seconds quicker than anyone in our group. as much as i would love to be a racing drive i just dont have the speed.
----------------------------------------I do enjoy playing project cars 2 on the odd occasion thou. I have finally ordered most of the parts for my new pc, got a ryzen 9 3900x, 64GB Ram, 2x 1TB nvme WD Black, Asus ROG Strix x570-F Gaming motherboard and can move my exsisting 28TB of hdd over. Need to wait a bit longer for the new graphics card thou both budget and stock levels were a bit empty. |

I've been running it flat out for long periods this week and have hit a personal best of 1.25 million points for the past 7 days. That's thanks to strong sun, strong wind, and COVID-19. Yesterday for 90 minutes or so I was being paid 10p for every kWh I was using !!! Today is another virtually free or better than free day for my Agile Octopus electricity tariff, so I'm hoping I'll overtake Steve in the team 7-day points rankings. My study is getting very warm though, with my 3900X and i7-6700 both running at full speed.

I aim to retire my i7-3770k (it may end up with a family member) and have the new 3900x up and running sometime next weekend subject to work. Depending on how hot my room gets in the summer i aim to have it running close to 24/7, my room often gets to 28-32 degrees, above that i have to start shutting stuff down.
----------------------------------------Well the forecast down south is sunny and warm for the next week so fingers crossed for your free electric, i did suggest swapping to Octopus to my house mates/landlord but they didnt like the idea as there peak usage is 4-7pm pre covid-19 plus we are on a set 3 year contract with 1 year left so maybe we can look at the end but i like the look of the tarrif and who doesnt like free electric. |

Thargor, that was a day and a half at the track, wow! I did a track day at Snetterton ten years ago and remember averaging 7MPG which horrifies me now. Track-wise I've nothing to compare it with so whilst I've got fond memories of it I think there will be many other better tracks to virtually play on. I think I have to make some time today/tomorrow to check this out.
---------------------------------------- That's some serious gear you've got there Unsmurf! ![]()
cheers,
