Morning all,
----------------------------------------nice to see everybody is doing well, im am now really bored of being stuck in doors but have been busy with work which has distracted me somewhat. Its great to so many badges coming in for the COVID-19, i have just reconfigured all mine to mainly run them now but have left 1 core on each pc for MIP, MCM & ARP. I am seeing a big range in points and run time at the minute for COVID-19 anywhere from 55-102 per unit and run time from 1.7 - 7 hours hopefully it settles down to a more consistent range. |

Yep same here, without work I'd need some new hobbies, top of my list would be trying to beat DMNI's lap times Yesterday I made a rocking chair out of an old Recaro car seat, it's ugly but comfy Today I just finished wire brushing some old dead climbing plant from the front of the house, it was cut down before we moved in 2.5 years ago but had left these dark traces all over the front brickwork - looks like a different house now. I can go back to daydreaming about creating a new crunch beast...What's everyone else been up to during the shut-in? Congrats TheMoonsCrescent on the Diamond ARP, not even half way to mine yet once the new memory arrives I'll upgrade the Goldfish and get back on those too.
cheers,

I guess I'm one of the rare ones, but I'm absolutely loving the solitude of the shut-in. Heading out once a week to do my supermarket-shop, at a time very early in the morning when it's nice and quiet (and shelves are stocked), otherwise staying indoors away from everyone.
----------------------------------------Plenty of reading, video/card/board gaming (quite a few of my card/board games support solo-play in some form or another), catching up on TV shows, and still getting regular exercise via the exercise bike I've moved to be in view of the TV, fresh air of sorts via the big bay windows in my living room which are constantly open when I'm not asleep (second floor apartment so not like anyone could climb in). I still have a sizeable mountain of books to get through, including a few new ones that arrived just as the lock-down began, so in a weird selfish kind of way, I'm hoping this goes on for many more months yet. I'm still considering ordering a steering-wheel & pedals set to do some basic PC sim-racing, but I'd also have the logistics of what to do about my computer-chair being on wheels on a hard non-carpeted surface (I picture myself trying to slam on the brakes and just shoving the chair ten feet backwards into a different room)! ![]() Oh, and Bronze badge for COVID-19! ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Thargor at May 17, 2020 12:37:20 PM] |

Yep same here, without work I'd need some new hobbies, top of my list would be trying to beat DMNI's lap times I do love a challenge :0 My driving is a LOT smoother and consistant now, the subtleties of the car setup is amazing, so many setting you can adjust, even the track gets grippier during a race, and weather conditions play a part as well. The racing really is realistic. I highly recommend giving it a go, it is so much fun, mixed with frustration and elation in equal measure. I cannot describe the feeling of hitting a corner at just the right speed and position and the car drives through it feeling like a feather in your hand, or getting it slightly wrong and your fighting to keep the car on the track. So much fun. Go for it Mac1 and Thargor, you will not regret it. Oh, My best performance so far is doing laps of Bathurst in 2:09. V8 supercars go round in 2:04-5. Also did a lap of Brands Hatch GP circut in 1:41 in a GT3 Bentley. ---------------------------------------- ![]() |

Thargor, to stop pushing yourself accross the room when you brake, you can buy yourself a sim racing frame, or make one yourself once you get the steering wheel and peddles, they can be quite expensive. I'll be building my own once I fiure out how to do it.
----------------------------------------There are a number of online tutorials on which wheels and pedals are the best, a good read to avoid pitfalls. Here is a fairly good frame one that does not cost so much. https://smile.amazon.co.uk/Next-Level-Racing-...qid=1589790241&sr=8-8 ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Darkmatter.NI at May 18, 2020 8:32:33 AM] |

Here is a fairly good frame one that does not cost so much. That does seem a tiny bit cheaper than the one I'd been dreamily looking at! https://smile.amazon.co.uk/Next-Level-Racing-...qid=1589790241&sr=8-8 ![]() https://www.sparco-official.com/en/gaming/sim...ed-line/sim-rig-ii-e.html ![]() |

So now I've got 2x 16Gb 2933mhz and 4x 8gb 2666mhz oh dear.... still, in for a penny... re-organised them as if they were all the same and fired it up, so far so good will keep an eye on stability though. If it's good I'll have to rename it as 'Goldfish' is less appropriate now ... also hopefully I can turn the ARP tap back on while they are still available.
cheers,

You get everything in that rig, and I'd expect everything as well, it does look good though. ![]() |

Found this racing frame, would be good for starting out on.
----------------------------------------https://smile.amazon.co.uk/Arozzi-Velocit%C3%...KAXCQEXPS536Q3XC&th=1 Think I'll buy one, I can use my office chair for the seat, and my monitor is on a desk anyway. Looks like it folds up for easy storage. I got a silver badge for OPD yesterday lunchtime, and should get a gold one tonight. Getting through the units rightly. ![]() [Edit 3 times, last edit by Darkmatter.NI at May 18, 2020 8:27:15 PM] |
