Re: Good morning everyone

Good Morning All.

I see that you are on line Tom Nuttall. We haven't heard from you for quite a while. I hope that both you and your wife are well and that no news is good news. We miss you here.

Re: Good morning everyone

Thanks Rod and Steve, Dropped in here to see what was going on. It is a pity the powers that be have interfered with the stats, Hope it doesn't put people off.
Sorry to say but my missus is still not at all well. She has cancer and is far too frail to be operated on or undergo chemotherapy. We go back to hospital next week to see if anything more can be done...

Sorry to hear that there has been no improvement with your wife's heath Tom, it sounds like you are between a rock and a hard place. I know it sounds twee but we really are thinking about your trials and tribulations and we hope for a good outcome. Keep smiling even though I know it is hard to do.

Re: Good morning everyone

This is promising...

Wanted to give you a quick update and a bit of background on the status of our Data Processing Agreement (DPA), which will allow people who agree to it to access World Community Grid data exports, which were previously available before GDPR came into effect.

As many of you are aware, we've been working with lawyers to come up with an agreement that will serve the wishes of volunteers who use the data exports, while ensuring that we are GDPR-compliant, as defined by IBM. We did receive the agreement drafted by lawyers specifically for World Community Grid. But since IBM is a commercial entity that focuses on selling technology solutions, we felt that the agreement drafted for World Community Grid wasn't sufficiently geared towards volunteers. The World Community Grid team feels strongly that, in the long run, it's better for us to continue to work with the legal team to push for an agreement that we believe will meet volunteers' needs as well as IBM's needs, rather than give volunteers an agreement that is more geared towards commercial engagements and is not as relevant to a philanthropic initiative.

Sincere thanks to everyone for their patience during this process. We will use this thread to provide updates.

Re: Good morning everyone

Some people, unbelievable.
Tom having lost a father in law to cancer in April I feel your pain and know what you're going through and echo RTS48's sentiments wholeheartedly.

Re: Good morning everyone

Well, that'll teach me to do O/S updates on my dedicated server, as it appears to have kernel-panic'd as a result.

With no console/DRAC access to the server, I'm now waiting on the datacentre-staff to take advantage of my "one free OS-reload every 30 days" to get access to the server again, so I can do a fresh install of BOINC and get everything up and running again.

Unfortunately, I'd only a few months ago done some tweaking of iptables to allow more detailed logging, so will have to regenerate all of those new rules again.

Additionally, since WCG will likely see it as a new device, when it comes back, here are its final stats:

Leviathan : 65:042:22:13:04 : 77,483,522 : 183,968

Good Morning All

Thargor I sympathise but am reminded of the adage 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it' - How I wish that I could say that I follow my own advice but alas I can't so I have been there, done that and got the 'T' shirt. I hope you are back up and running soon.

Re: Good morning everyone

I've just read back through the thread. Sorry to hear about your wife Tom. All I can say is that I wish you both well, and try to keep your chin up, although I know how difficult it can be.

I think it's back up and running, will test properly from home (where I don't have to mess around with multiple firewall and IP-security rules).

EDIT: and, oddly unlike every other rebuild I've done, it appears to be following on from the same device-stats as the previous incarnation rather than creating a new device.
