Afternoon everyone ... Right on cue: Smash Childhood Cancer Points: 42,437,051. Results: 134,390. Runtime: 50:025:11:15:25. ![]() 50years, that's awesome, I'm still hunting down my first 20, about 3 years to go on SCC. F1 Shame Lewis bogged down on the start, still it was good fun watching him go from effective last to 2nd.

Good Evening All
----------------------------------------F1 Shame Lewis bogged down on the start, still it was good fun watching him go from effective last to 2nd. Yes what an awesome drive. It was a great shame that we didn't see a real battle for the front. Cynically you could say that Kimi earned his race bonus! It looks like today's server update is not going as smoothly as expected. What was supposed to be a four hour exercise has now exceeded 10 hours - someone is working overtime!

Good morning everyone.
----------------------------------------It seems to have gone really quiet here since IBM pulled the plug on team statistics and individual data. This is really a great pity because this was one of the most active forums ever. with 13,200 posts. All you lurkers that are just watching, drop us a status report and show that Team UK still lives!

I am pleased to report that access to the data export files has been re-activated and is available again. Volunteers who wish to access the data will not need to sign a Data Processing Agreement or obtain tokens. Would it be in order to be hopeful ... ?? |

DC Stats is certainly working again, figures are all over the place for the last week/month but it's back up and running |

Good morning all - that's fantastic news about the stats - Dave - over to you (pretty please - when you get back from Scotland). BOINC STATS are back up and running which is interesting as it reported a haul of 594,000 points yesterday (oh how I wish that was today too)
----------------------------------------My little bit of news is that my MacBook pro (dual core - 4 threads) has finally sprung out of its case. I am retiring it until I can get either a replacement computer or a decent repair. As I'm not going back to the UK for a while it looks like the latter is my only option.

Good morning all - that's fantastic news about the stats - Dave - over to you (pretty please - when you get back from Scotland). BOINC STATS are back up and running which is interesting as it reported a haul of 594,000 points yesterday (oh how I wish that was today too). I have restarted the stats server, and the data is being retrieved. What data, I have no idea, and I don't have the time to find out just now. It will take a week or so to repopulate to enable the various stats to work properly. Please note that I was planning to retire it completely, and I may well do so at some point. I don't see how the stats can be complete or meaningful when some people can opt out, but we will see. BTW, as part of my IT downsizing in preparation for moving house, the stats server is now running as a virtual machine on a tiny Synology NAS. I may not have enough memory on this NAS to run it, in additional to a VM running 15 or so mail accounts and a three websites, so again, it may be temporary. Still, it's better than nothing!

Sorry about the delay in getting the stats going. Non-techies stop reading now...
----------------------------------------As I hinted, I'm migrating a Core i5 server with 32GB of RAM and a RAID-1 array running four virtual machines, to a NAS with only 6GB of RAM. To add to the fun, I'm using the same disks in order to avoid squandering £250. I'm trying to do it whilst avoiding downtime on my 15-user mail server VM with 3 live websites (excluding the stats one). This has involved shifting data around in large quantities, off the RAID array and onto a temporary home, whilst taking extra backups in case of disk failure. So far so good, but I had to get the NAS up and running, serving out my own personal files (about 600GB), and doing backups to the cloud, before I attempted to anything with the virtual machines including the stats server, which has been offline for a month. Surprisingly, the migration of the stats server was painless. I exported my KVM/qcow2 VM as a VMDK disk image, and then imported it into my new Synology NAS (which I think is running VMware under the hood). I'm hoping the mail/web server is just as painless, because once you go live with it, there is no going back - finding it doesn't work after a couple of days of running would be a disaster. I can thoroughly recommended my Synology NAS (a DS718+). An excellent piece of kit.

It's great to have it back, Dave, thank-you. Now we need to wait a few days while things repopulate ...
