Dave, Please think about how much your work has helped to motivate the rest of the team. I think that that should motivate you, now. ![]() I agree entirely with the words (and sentiments) that Apis has written (so much better than I could). Stay with us Dave, your contribution is far more valuable than you think!

FYI, from WCG...
----------------------------------------You recently requested access to the World Community Grid data exports which, as mentioned previously, is dependent on you agreeing to our Data Processing Agreement (DPA). We wanted to update you on the status of the Agreement. For months, we have been working with a team of lawyers to prepare World Community Grid for GDPR compliance and ensure adequate protection of our volunteers' data. It is no secret that many organizations have found it a challenge to adhere to this new, comprehensive and complex regulation, and frankly, we are no exception. It is also fair to admit that our lawyers have been far busier than normal helping various groups understand the implications of the regulation on their individual programs. We finally have a lawyer dedicated to finalizing the Agreement, but the review process is not yet complete. Please know that we are doing everything we can to push this as aggressively as we can, and are using escalation channels to ensure this gets addressed as quickly as possible. We are fully aware of the impact of delaying access to the data exports has on you and sincerely appreciate your patience as we get this resolved. Thank you for your support, during what has been (and continues to be) a challenging compliance process for us and many others.

Good Morning All.
----------------------------------------I guess that WCGs definition of 'as quickly as possible' depends on how long the lawyers (at $5,000 a day) can spin it out, or am I just being a little cynical?

Good Morning All
----------------------------------------It looks like it is going to be a long wait before any form of group or team statistics become available. It's not that the various providers (including our Dave) are unwilling, it's just that IBM and WCG are being super cautious regarding their legal positions and are moving as slowly as cooling Lava. I really can't help but think that ultimately this is going to do irreparable damage to distributed computing in all of its forms. Very sad!

This forum has gone noticeably quieter since GDPR.

Good morning all
----------------------------------------This forum has gone noticeably quieter since GDPR. I think that is inevitable Dave. I don't know about you but I visited the forum several times a week to check up on my 'signature' stats as well as looking at them on other sources (Including WCG Team UK stats). Ah well - I really hope that lack of comment here does not spell lack of WCG and Team UK commitment but I'm not sure if I'm right or not.

Not on my part certainly, work has been keeping me very busy lately and I've been messing with the latest version of Ubuntu which doesn't have any performance gain but looks nicer. I'm in this for the chance to help science, big numbers and blitzing up the global rankings might be nice but it's only a small part of my interest really, that said I get how annoyed Dave is, I would be if I'd put that kind of effort in only to have it scuppered by the EU, if only we could get rid of them - oh, wait :) |

Yes Paul, I agree wholeheartedly. However, not in my wildest imagination do I believe that the UK will overturn this bit of (for us) inconvenient legislation.

Shame about the API's/stats but I feel it's temporary. I'm fairly content that WCG's members contribution data isn't the real target for the act and once the dust settles access will be opened up again, here's hoping that whilst they make any necessary tweaks they'll make some improvements too. Looking here Team stats Average daily points and results; April 2,324,411pts, 4037results May 3,136,352pts - 5748results June so far 3,118,494pts 6350results Things seem ok - no massive exodus if any at all. Any mistakes are due to me adding it all up in my head and NOT screen scraping into a spreadsheet coz that would be in breach of terms and conditions! and it's all been forgotten now. ![]()
cheers,
