Rod... My best guess would be that you have a virus that has hijacked your DNS resolution. But I could be just scare-mongering. Dave - absolutely correct - but I did read your post after I had fixed it. I think that it nmight have been caused when I installed MPlayerX to try to get a better handle on x265 codec. This was flagged up by bitdefender as having a virus (even though I downloaded it from the official site). I had a look at my DNS Servers in my WiFi settings and I found four rogue entries. 208.67.222.222 208.67.220.220 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 Having removed all of these I appear to be back up and running. It did take me a day of sweat and tears to find it though. Those four DNS entries are OpenDNS and Google respectively, so they shouldn't have been causing the problems. Anyway, glad it's fixed ![]()

Congratulation TomNuttall on getting into the team Top 10 for points (the one that really matters, but doesn't give you badges).

Yes, very good. Its a pity that I had the three and a half year break from crunching, else I may have been even higher. Onwards and upwards...

Good morning all
----------------------------------------Those four DNS entries are OpenDNS and Google respectively, so they shouldn't have been causing the problems. Anyway, glad it's fixed ![]() Dave it was the OpenDNS that was causing me problems in that it was blocking all sorts of web sites that I visit (to download TV programs that I can't get here) as well as my VPN site and my email access. All I can think is that OpenDNS objects to a Bolivian IP address and react accordingly. I have had issues with email being rejected on this front too. Has anyone noticed that the BAM Stats have not updated for a couple of days? Other Stats web sites (which I suspect feed from BAM) such as Snurk (WCG signature ranking) and Free-DC have also halted (last return 02:51:11 on 27th February. The good news is that Dave's stats are bang up to date! Congratulations!

I spent about 10-11 years away from crunching, after I graduated from University - my late Nan first becoming very ill kind of put this back in my mind, again. I do sometimes wonder how much potential research I could have helped out with, if I had carried on with it after University. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Thargor at Mar 1, 2017 3:19:30 PM] |

I use OpenDNS as well and I have not noticed any difficulties with any websites. PM me one and I will try it out from over here. ![]() |

Good morning everyone. We are having cooler. wetter weather here at the moment which is quite a welcome change.
----------------------------------------It is so nice to see that my efficiency and performance statistics are back on a spectacular rise. I clocked up nearly 90,000 points yesterday whereas (for the same run time) I was struggling to get 50,000. I hope it continues.
